Default ParaParaParadise [PS2] Question

[first off, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move it. @_@]

Hi, I have a quick question about the PS2 version of PPP.

I've got a slim Amican PS2, and I use a flip-top/swap magic 3.6 combo to play imports. I've already got Pop'n 9+10, and they both work perfectly.

Today, however, my copy of PPP finally came in, and it will not work. The SM discs work fine, but when I go to load the program, all I get is a black screen, and the game won't fully load.

Is this a problem with the disc, or is the game itself not compatible with 3.6? Has anyone else played this game and had problems with it? I'd REALLY like a answer, because I payed a lot of money to get this complete with the controller, and I'd really like to actually be able to play it. x__x Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It should be compatible... Have you tried using both DVD and CD swap discs? That could easily be your problem right there, try both.

I have. :[ The game is on a DVD disc, however, so the CD swap disc just says "Not a valid PS2 disc" and doesn't work.

I've also tried changing the video mode from normal to NTSC, as well as using "special boot".

Somebody on some other site's telling me that I should make a backup of the game, but I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how to work that. And I'd really just like to be able to use my original imported game [I keep hearing people having hard times running backup discs..]. Sooo....Has anyone played this game under these circumstances before? Has it worked, not worked?

Oh bah, and I've been looking to sell mine for relatively cheap too.

It is a DVD game, but when they say "make a backup," essentially they're suggesting you make a DVD copy of it on your PC onto a blank DVD. Of course, that requires a DVD burner.

its relatively simple to make a backup. Get DVD decrpter, and tell it to read an iso file. It will save an iso file on your computer, then you put in a blank disc, and go to write iso, and select the iso file DVD Decrypter made for you. Then give the disc a try in your PS2. Sometimes it actually helps, especially when the disc is beaten up when you are using the swap technique to play imports.

Oh, do you have a copy that works for you? Do you play it with the Swap Method?

We're looking to see if replacing the disc helps any, so if you still have it....o:

Also, a backup unfortunately isn't an option for me because we don't have a DVD burner over here. :[

Thanks for all the help, though.

I know this is going to sound really, really odd, but this *may* work for you. (Try it if you want, it is a bit risky if you do it wrong, and can scratch your discs up bad, but you might want to try it once to see if it at least works.)
1: Boot up your PS2 with no disc inside and take it to the browser.
2: Put a normal, North American disc in (while you still at the browser)
3. It should show up as a picture of a disc in the browser now
4: Now, flip open the flip top lid
5: Take out the North American PS2 game, while it is spinning (do this as carefully as possible)
6: Place the Para Para Paradise game in while the center part is still spinning
7: select the disc icon in the browser and start it

I know that is an awkward method, but it may just work as an alternative method for you. Again, try this at your own risk. (The reason I am bringing up this method is that it works for me to boot PS1 imports, so it may work as an alternative PS2 import boot method as opposed to swap magic)

I have a chipped PS2, so I don't do any swapping =/

I'd love to sell off my PPP + controller if anything. It's been collecting dust for years.

Interesting idea. I'm willing to try just about anything once.

A few questions, though. Do you let the disc start spinning and stay on the browser, or do you select the disc from the browser? Also, is there any resetting of the system involved? o:

Well, there are 2 discs, the first being an NA game that you use to swap, and the second is PPP. If you mean the first, you go into browser before you insert the game, put it in when you're in the browser screen and it will start to spin. While that disc is spinning, take it out and the thing in the center will still be spinning. Put the PPP disc in while the thing in the center is still spinning and close the swap lid. The PPP disc will still be spinning and you now select the game from the browser screen. (press X on the PS2 disc icon) and it should *hopefully* boot up.

Also, I doubt you'd be up to this, but if you'd like, you can send the disc to me, and I can attempt to get it working in my PS2, and I can make a backup for you as well and attempt booting that. (If you need any reassurance, I have a high marketplace score on the forum, feedback page here: http://www.bemanistyle.com/forum/itrader.php?u=7580) This is only if you want of course, I'd be happy to do it for free, only asking you cover the cost of postage.

Tried the swap from the browser method, no luck. =/ It just immediately gave the
"Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 game" message. Region coding must be better for PS2 imports as opposed to PS1. >>

Is your PS2 modded the same way mine is, out of curiosity? o:

MissDantil: Do you have the original Japanese game or a copy/bootleg?

I'm thinking about selling for about $65 + shipping or best offer. I don't really have a set price, I kind of just want to get rid of it (along with a bunch of other unused game stuff collecting dust in my closet).

Thank you both SO MUCH for the offers. Seriously, it's all way more than I expected. :3

We're trying to get in touch with the eBay sellar right now, so after we do that and I talk it over with the rest of the family [since they'd be the ones handing money exchanges, they're the ones with the credit cards ;p] and think it over, I'll get back to you both, if that's not a problem. I'd say give it a few more days for the seller to get back to us..?

Also, the game is an original copy of the Japanese game, not a bootleg, copy, ect.
