Default Remember Bust-A-Groove?

Remember Bust-A-Groove? I really used to love that game. With all of it's fancy, foot-worked characters and addictive music, what's not to love? Well, after such a long time I've decided that this music game diserves a thread at bms. Post any comments about the game or questions here.

It was actually my first game for PS1 that i bought in the store with my own money. I didn't hear much about the game when i bought it and since I was like isolated from society much in my earlier life I didn't actually so much people played it. I fucking loved this game to death to the point were I couldn't play it anymore since the disc got killed by overplay. Strike was still my favorite character. The moves were fly as hell and I still sometimes try to be like Heat or Kitty N (not a pretty sight when i do it). Really good game. The 2nd version wasn't all that bad but it wasn't as good as the first IMO. I hope they come out with like more in the future.

Yah, it was also one of my first games for the ps1. My favorite character would have to be either Heat or Gas-O. They had some pretty cool moves (especially when Heat tries to do the splits at the end of each song ). I've only played the 1st, but I've heard that the 2nd isn't as good as the 1st. I really do hope they bring Bust-A-Groove back to life some day on the PS2. That would be really nice.

If Bust-A-Groove and Parappa have their own threads, where is my Cool Cool Toon thread? This is insane.

To tell the truth, I really had no idea what this was untill I found it out here. But if you really want to start a thread about this, no one is stoping you. Go right ahead and do it. I'm just not too sure that many people know about this. Anyways, let's keep this thread about Bust-A-Groove and only about Bust-A-Groove, ok?

Wow.. I havn't played it, but I want to play it!!!
Realy.. I discovered Bust-A-Groove (2) after someone played it at a anime stand in the grocery plaza.

I was like.. During middle school... I used to like Kitty-N (early cat-girl love days?) and other characters, until I loved Shorty for the child-cuteness..

I did tons of fanart back in the days, but they were OLD!! XP

The only male I like is Heat. (Because he reminds me of someone..)

Awsome that you mention about that.. Now that game is so rare in public.. (Minus online, if possbility..)

Love the games. Never got a chance to play Dance Summit 2001 but the soundtrack was groovy (Cherry Bomb was the best).

The first game in the series was so mind-blowing cool for the time that you had to see it to believe it. Years later, the game still holds up, partly due to the incredibly awesome soundtrack. Hiro will always be my favorite character strictly for The Natural Playboy. The only problem with the game was the "Americanized" soundtrack. I respect the English versions of the songs (though Capoiera's original was worlds better) but I do not like them as much and their edits are retarded (the word "tequila" was censored from Power, why?).

Part II plays better with the Groove System on the bottom (the three colored bars) and of course, the different inputs but the soundtrack still lacks when compared to part I. The American version was good with Kitty-N's and Shorty's songs in English but I prefer the Japanese version strictly for James Suneoka. If you never got to experience James, he was sort of the announcer for the credits. You would beat the game, something random would fall on James' head, and then a short montage would play. I remember Capoeira being rare painting lovers for some reason. It was gold and sadly, James just appears while dancing in the American version's credits. Boo! And Pander still scares the hell out of me.

Oh, man. I had just aquired all 3 BaG games like 4 weeks ago. The first two games brought back some great memories from early high school. :-P And I have to agree that it's kind of sad that they cut out James' parts but I guess it has something to do with the joke he tells durring Heat's ending.

"How do you reunite the Beatles? With three more bullets!"

Yeah, it was bad, but still...

I only got to play Bust-a-Groove 2 once by my friends house and loved it, eventhough I was REALLY bad at it because it was my friends much game. I've been trying to find a reasonably priced copy of either one or two, but I doubt that is going to happen. I'll pick them up eventually though.

Both BaG games are win.

sheesh, Hiro's theme song on BaG1 (natural Playboy) was used in an anime commercial (for Yu Yu Hakusho) here once.

Personal favorites: Police Suit Kelly and the "Moon Light Party" theme song, and Kitty Nakafima's theme song (Bust A Groove).
