We can always hope that they'll pull a Karaoke Revolution and add some Silent Hill songs into the game

Also, a couple more pointless questions:
- Does the manual or anything list any particular guitar/drum controllers that are supported, or do they just use the generic "supports most guitar and drum peripherals"?
- Do we know yet if the official drumset is cross-platform, or if there will be separate drums for each system?

Konami didn't make this game btw. Not entirely anyway

Zoe Mode devloped the game, in corralation with Konami

This quote is taken from their press release which you can find in .pdf format here: Zoë Mode - Rock Revolution

Quote:
Zoë Mode is pleased to announce that it is the developer of Rock Revolution for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION®3 as recently announced by publisher Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. , scheduled for release in fall 2008.

Developed in close collaboration with Konami, the original innovators of the rhythm genre, Rock Revolution builds on the core game-play pioneered in games such as DrumMania and Guitar Freaks to provide an experience that will appeal to music fans everywhere.
Also I haven't played the game yet, but from what I have heard, the Bemani name isn't anywhere in the game!! (i could be proven wrong on this if anyone has a screenshot!!)

I don't have the game either so I can't say with 100% certainty, but on the official website, the fine print reads:

It's also worth noting that the Bemani logo doesn't appear on the website at all, though, nor is it mentioned anywhere beside the fine print.

That is very interesting about them having bemani listed in the copyright but not anywhere on the site

maybe it's just a standard practice for their music games....like a templete copyright or something

IGN rated the game a 3.0, and one of his major complaints is that the gamescreen isn't tilted (like Guitar Hero), its flat (like IIDX). The reviewer was also mentioning that it pretty much isn't playable on harder songs because of this "different view".

It kinda makes me laugh how he is bashing the game becuase its too hard. I mean seriously just look at the:

43's in pop'n music ; 99's in GF/DM ; or 12's in BeatmaniaIIDX and tell me its not possible to play "flat screen"

oh and btw I'm not trying to defend the game is still looks bad.

Bemani logo is also on the back of the box right above or below where it says "Konami". I bought it. I still haven't played it or seen ANYTHING in the way of hardware for it... RB drum set is supposed to work with it if the cymbal pack EVER gets released...
I don't know about the GH drums since konami/Zoe is using 6 pads and a foot pedal.

I read somewhere that you can change from 7 lanes to 5 lanes for drums, for compatibility with GH/RB drumsets

I thought the game was supposed to automatically recognize the drum set, and configure its self accordingly

I'll see if I can find some info on this

Edit:

I can't view the site while at work, the internet hear blocks it but this is what i found in a search result...it may answer the question for you

MTV Multiplayer We Try Playing ‘Rock Revolution’ With The ‘Rock Band’ Drums

From that article:

Quote:
First off, when you start the game, you can jump to the options menu and under the controller tab, you’ll be able to choose five or seven lanes, depending on which drum kit you’re using.

Who else thinks that they should have just romanized song titles, added GH guitar compatibility and released the latest GF/DM here? That way, it would have taken minimal effort on their part, and it wouldn't have looked like a piece of crap.

That's what they should have done with IIDX too.

It would take alot more effort than what you think. Keep in mind that for each song they have in the game, that is licensed, they would have to license it over here as well. That ups cost of production. Besides everyone in the U.S that doesn't play GF/DM, or Bemani for that matter, looks at games like this as disgusiting b/c it's a verticle scroll instead of some crappy hallway scroll

Combine all this with the fact that 99% of American's proablby don't like J-Pop, hardcore Goa trance, etc... it just wouldn't sell with that kind of music here. So they would have to, for the most part, change the music, then none of us would like it.

In the end, bringing Bemani to america in it's true nature is a Catch 22. It just wont' work

It's a shame this game didn't do well... Gee... Sorry Zoe and Konami I know you meant well... Hmmm...

As far as IIDX is concerned I'm getting quite tired of Konami with that... IIDX isn't doing anything.... but that's a whole nother topic... I'll make a rant about it in the blogs.

Heh

We can leave it at that.

Though one always has to wonder why they (Konami) can't get the timing right with the licensing (for North Atlantic markets).

One can only wonder if they will launch another BEMANI game in the West

Aside from DDR X of course.

Though that's for another discussion as well

There's DLC available for Rock Revolution now (for the 360 at least, I'm assuming PS3 DLC will come tomorrow), for the 2 of you that care

On a side note, the DLC notes that the cover band is titled "The Rock Revolution Band," and that they are, in fact, a part of Bemani.
