Default Shamisen Brothers

The fact that TGA is getting this reminded me that this game even existed. I'm going to have to try it out sometime. Soon hopefully.

Anyway, how is this game played exactly? How do the notes work onscreen, and what do you have to do to hit the notes? Do you only have to pluck three strings?

And finally... will this ever see a CS release?

I wish I have been to Power Up to help you out... I'm probably the closest yet farthest to answer...

after a fairly extensive and fruitless google search to see how this game is played, i came up with this image, which you can see the screen somewhat clearly.

the interface is kinda like taiko no tatsujin, but i can't see the notes at all.

Reviving thread with genuine information!

I FOUND SHAMISEN BROTHERS IN AZ AND I'M TOTALLY ADDICTED.
It's at Gameworks at Arizona Mills Mall.

It has Diamonds on it and I'm seriously tripping. It's so fun to play.

Alright so there's red, blue and green notes. the entire 'fretboard' (as you would refer to it on a REAL GUITAR as, this isn't fucking GH lingo) is split into those notes. The first 1/3 is red, second is blue, third is green. You actually press down on what feels like real (metal) strings (they aren't, it just feels that way). When the metal 'strings' make a connection to the metal board underneath, it has the effect of pressing a button. You then take the, very realistic by the way, shamisen pick that is attached to the shamisen controller and SLAP the body of the shamisen controller (where the pick bar on a GH or GF controller would be) , much like actually playing an actual shamisen.

It's so unbelievably fun. I can't stand it. I'm addicted to this game!

PS I was going to make another thread for this anyways, so uh, thread start?

Damn

This concept looks cool.

And since it's from a less-known manufacturer, I expect the machine cost to be......

P.S.

Shamisen Brothers will transform you into experts like the Yoshida Brothers

Hehe

Oh man, this sounds too awesome. I would love to have a chance to play Shamisen Brothers.
Except there's no arcades near me. And the closest ones have few decent rhythm games, let alone anything like this.

I played this is Hong Kong back in '04... Think Guitar Freaks but stretched out frets. Like really stretched out. Incredibly fun... I should really dig up some photos from back then...
Oh, the major difference between this and any Guitar n-series is that you also have to hold the bachi (shamisen version of a guitar pick, I suppose) -- I guess it kinda resembles a barbeque scraper but smaller.

Fantastic game, and I wish our local arcade got it. That said, I don't think there are any versions beyond the first, so with no chance of upgradability, I guess there's no point in buying it in the first place :<
