I noticed that even aftr reading all the new topics in a subforum, and you go back to the main forum page (not click Back, but actually browsing to the main front), te subforum with all the read topics says there are still new topics to be read. When I click that subforum, all the topics have been read, like it should be. Now, if I once again go to the main forum page, the subforum says all topics have been read.

Plainly put: The subforum on the main forum page will say there are unread threads UNLESS you physically see the contents of the subforum and all the threads must be read. If you read all the threads but forget to view the subforum contents (after reading a brand new post), the subforum will still say there is a new post.

PHEW! I hope you get this.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but if you've read all of the threads, and you make a post in a forum, it shows your own post as a new post. I'm pretty sure that this isn't necessary, because people will probably see it as "Oh, hey, someone posted right after me. Oh, wait, no they didn't." and it will just be a waste of time.

If it's not a bug, just ignore what I said. I still think it's a little annoying though.

Threads randomly set the New Post indicator even after reading all posts.

I don't believe this is a bug, but rather a combination of caching issues and the way vBulletin works. Yeah, it's annoying, but I think the issue is also resolved by forcing a reload.
Closing.

Basically this is the way it works now

Quote:
once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the cookie timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.
I'll try it a couple other ways and see how it works out.
