Default IIDX / Pop'n Tournaments

Alright, heres the deal. Right now we are very low on budget due to all the building stuff and the cost of getting everything set up for Bowl-mani Fest. So I figured I would leave this up to everyone here. Would you rather see the IIDX and Pop'n Tournament s be free and just have small prizes (not sure what yet), or would you rather them have a $5 entry fee and do a 50/30/20 cut for 1/2/3 place?

Both tourneys are scheduled to run simultaniously on saturday.

Default $5

The $5 does more than give prizes. The fee also keeps the non-serious people out. If you don't charge $5 then everyone at the concert will want to play just because they can.

I'm sure that at least the top three finishers are going to all be people who can A+ 12s. But I'm still going to pay the $5 (and get my ass kicked) just to be part of the event.

I voted for the $5 entry fee. It'll make things more competitive.

I'll probably end up entering the Pop'n tournament instead of the IIDX one considering how terrible I am at AC IIDX.

I'm all for the $5 tournament. It's not really that much for an entry fee, so I suppose it's fair.

Definitely $5. If anything it will keep the number of entrants down...

Fee for the prizes and also for the seriousness of the competition.

I'm all for $5 dollar entry fee, but not for doing them at the same time on the same day.

What if you have to do a rather strenuous Pop'n match and then run over to the IIDX machine with hardly a break and play 11+s. That's kind of difficult/sucky. :<

Can't they be held at separate times or on separate days?

They will have to overlap with other competitions either way, but I can try to break them up. Maybe Pop'n / PiU on Friday, IIDX / DDR PA Saturday, DDR FS Sunday

(FS of course will be a free tourney with small prizes)

I'd like to enter the Pop'n tournament, but it'd be kind of a waste considering the other people entering. I mean with people like kappa, arc, random, krazy, and I don't know the other top players who will definitely be and there and entering, but competition is gonna be insane unless there's other brackets for intermediate players.

Entry fee for the win.

Also pop'n and iidx on separate days rocks, I wouldn't mind that at all, since I'm not good enough at pump/DDR to do shit (ITG2 would be nice though :X). ChibiShin, just enter for fun I'm not going to win either tourney, I have barely any chance at pop'n and no experience on AC for IIDX.

EDIT: Random will be in the tourney D: This is hot. If you're reading this, Random, I'm so getting your ASC signed by Kors K XD

EDIT2: Since there are people here who can 100k 39s, should the pop'n tourney be done on Super Challenge? I know a lot of people don't get Cools too much yet....

I ask because there are no EXs unlocked, and I wouldn't be surprised if we tied 3 rounds then played an EX for the first time and both tied again O_O 100ks are getting kind of easy past 30, at least for me, so I figure Super Challenge might be best.

I gotta start practicing s-challenge haha.

So when are we gonna get the specifics on how the tourneys are going to go?

Tournament should be on regular Challenge mode. Whether it's based on actual score or some other formula should be figured out too. I don't see the need to have it on S-Challenge, playing at the arcade is completely different for most people who live in the US because the machine is made for 5 foot tall asian people.

EDIT: Also, ALL the EXs from Carnival and under are unlocked. The only ones that aren't open ATM are ones from Fever, so if someone really wants to play one of those songs in the tournament, it'd have to be on hyper.
