Total Tokens: 9,965.44 Donate Tokens | Anime Movies in Japan? Was curious, every popular anime from DB to One Piece seems to have a good amount of movies attatched to them.
What I'm curious to know, are these just played on T.V.? Or actually shown in movie theatres? I remember someone talking about them actually being played in Movie Theatres.
If some one can give me a detailed explanation thanks.

The one about some kid getting a Red-Eyes Black Dragon in the Battle City storyline, I honestly forget the plot but I know it was never over here. The one we got was a worldwide release but we knew at the time it was going to happen anyway considering the popularity at the time.

Personally,I would've loved to see them, but a ticket is like $20!!!! Popcorn was good though....
So to answer your question, yes most major anime do have films made and they are shown in theaters....does that help?

One thing that is different is that they have no qualms about releasing one hour movies into the theaters for full price. They are sometimes double features with other short movies, but not always. A lot of pieces that some people consider OAVs in the US because of length such as the Dragonball movies and St. Seiya movies were actually full blown theatrical releases.

I don't even to get started with Studio Ghibli films, most of which have at one point or another been the highest grossing films ever in Japan.

During the trailers there were several for other anime movies, mostly for children. Though movie theaters only seem to be in big cities, the childrens' anime movies obviously sell, or else they wouldn't keep releasing them.

Whats the price range on tickets?
What kind of snacks do they have?
Anything different from the American theatres that stand out?
What about a video arcade like most have.

What about a video arcade like most have. | I think the price ranges from 15 to 20 dollars, although the theatre in Osaka I went to gave a 1000yen discount if you showed a student ID, which I did. :3 I went to see Sekai no Chuushin de Ai o Sakebu, which is certainly not a children's or anime movie, but was verry good.
They did sell popcorn, ice cream, and several other cafe things, but what was most remarkable was that they didn't mind people bringing in their own food. We brought in crepes from a stand nearby.
I remember the chairs being more comfortable than most American theatres, the particularly clean atmosphere each time I went (went 3 times altogether), and there being a themed gift shop right in the theatre for Howl's Moving Castle.
Since I always went with other people who weren't interested in games, I didn't have time to notice whether or not they had one. Though there was almost always one nearby, since both arcades and theatres are fairly common in the bigger city areas.
