Default Asian Movies

Im wondering if anyone can recommend some good asian movies. By asian, I mean Korean/Chinese/Japanese. I can possibly recommend such movies as "Oldboy", "Casshern", "Train Man", "Battle Royale I-II", "Suicide Club", anything by Stephen Chow, and anything with Jet Li (like "Huo Yuan Jia" and "Ying xiong") and Jackie Chan (like "San ging chaat goo si" or some of his old stuff, none of his american titles) in it.

Why did John Woo's "The Killer" jump to mind immediately?

I'm only good for this kind of stuff in the horror department. That being said, pick up a copy of "A Tale of Two Sisters." It still stands as the scariest movie I have ever seen (though that director's next film, "Cello", was sort of freaky).

Oh, "2046" totally escaped my mind. Pick that one up, as well. Very underrated, in my opinion.

"God of Cookery" and "Shaolin Soccer", if you haven't seen them. (which would be a shock) Great Stephen Chow movies. Seriously, who DOESN'T enjoy Stephen Chow get repeatedly beaten up by the 18 Brassmen of Shaolin?

I just watched God of Cookery, A Tale of Two Sisters, and 2046. GoC was everything a Stephen Chow movie should be (playing himself as the lead role in all his movies I bet). Tale of Two Sisters felt like a M. Night Shyamalan movie which I liked alot. 2046 didn't really peak my interests very much. If it was a story about the book that he wrote, I would've enjoyed it more.

You should watch All About Lily Chou-Chou (Riri Shu-Shu no Subete). It's a Japanese movie with a really intriguing story and the most beautifully ethereal music. I also recommend any of Akira Kurosawa's films, they're Japanese classics and they're beautifully done. I recommend Rashomon in particular, since that's my favourite.

Will pay good money for a DDRX2 poster/archstand.

^Oh man, if we're going to talk classics like those, then yes, "Rashomon" is good stuff. Also have to give a shout-out to Ozu's work, particularly "Tokyo Story" (which still remains one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen).

I'll make a pretty dumb question:

Which Akira Kurosawa movies do you recommend me to buy? I can get Seven Samurais in a book store near here :3

I need summaries for Yojimbo and Ran, please

Oh, I also saw Ringu Zero (lol Ringu). Is it good, or I should save the money for something else? Consider that I liked the original Ringu movie ^^

Wikipedia is your best friend:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ran_%28film%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yojimbo_%28film%29

And about Ringu Zero... I haven't watched it yet, so I can't say anything on it. I'm not really one for horror films. But my friend really likes it since it fleshes out Sadako and he said that Ringu Zero adds depth to her character.
