Default Battle Royale - US remake

Looks like they're going to make a toned down remake of Battle Royale for the US

lol @ Keith

I'll watch the remake, but only so I can compare it to the Japanese version and point out the really bad things about it.

This remake madness that hollywood has been going through needs to stop! The original film was good and yet they feel it has to be remade cause 'OMFG, it's in Japanese and nobody wants to read subtitles.'

Agreed. By remaking a classic such as Battle Royale, producers run the risk of having the remake turn out crap as well as having the remake turn out crap. Oh wait--

Just license the film and subtitle it.

ANOTHER U.S. remake of a Japanese movie. Dammit, Hollywood is dead. Everything now is either based on books, prequels, or sequels. This is a load of crap.

I've never actually seen the original, but I did read the novel.

They're gonna dumb down the crap out of it. If they keep it true, or even partially true to the original, they'd be lucky to get away with an 'R' rating.

Just spend a couple hundred thousand to buy the rights, subtitle and release. I'm sure it'd do just as well (if not better) at the box office.

Why wouldn't they?

It'll certainly be interesting if they keep the law. Cuz then Bush HAS to be the one who passed it or thought it up or whatever they do in the government.

I haven't seen any of the movies but I've read and searched a lot about them. I'm getting the original first chance I get though.

meh..for some reason, i think its going to suck. maybe its because i just started reading the manga (i havent seen the original movie) soo maybe my opinion is a bit biased. especially since the manga is really graphic and it -would- have to be toned down a lot of they decided to do a US remake of it..i'll see the original first. then wait for previews of the remake to decide whether i want to see it or not.

Personally, from what I've seen so far, The Ring is the single American remake of an Asian horror film that was better than the Japanese version. All other films are dominated by their Japanese counterparts.

I don't expect this remake to be any good (I have more feelings for The Host, though), and I'll likely hop into it to save money.
