Talking Best shonen series!

Yeah, probably the most whored genre in manga / anime, and the most known one, that's for sure.

So, which shonen series is the best, in your very own opinion? Of course, post yours reasons (serious reasons, please)... and if you can share pictures and/or whatever thing you want, do it, please.

For me, the best shonen series this world has ever had is:

Saint Seiya AKA Knights of Zodiac.

-The concept is still alive :3
-The creator of SS is still very involved in the new projects (Next Dimension, Lost Canvas and the Tenkai Hen movie, released more than 1 year ago).
-One of the very few series where there's a plot with serious cultural references, including a lot of mythologies.
-ALL the main guys have a good character development... or well, almost
-Even most of the enemies (the golden knights, the god warriors, etc.) have a story (and a tragic past in most cases).
-Some of the best shonen fights ever (Seiya vs Shiryu, Shiryu vs Argol, ALL the fights against the golden knights, etc.).
-The anime version always featured good animation, special effects and one of the best soundtracks an anime can have. Oh, and a filler (Asgard) that doesn't suck and gets as interesting as the official arcs.

Currently waiting for the Inferno chapter in DVD The Sanctuary chapters were released here some months ago. I'll try to post some screencaps later.

Discuss.

I enjoy Hunter X Hunter. I think it's cool how each character has a unique ability that I never seen before. Not like a whole bunch of Dragonball spinoffs that have characters shooting ki blasts all over the place...

Well, excluding Hisoka of course. Which came first, Hisoka or Gambit? :P

Gambit was born way before Hunter x Hunter existed :x

LOL. It's curious to see that most shonen series always feature the stereotypes DBZ imposed:

-Retarded main character but strong for no apparent reason.
-Angsty antagonist chars that join the main dude later.
-Etc.

Funny shit: I liked Yu Yu Hakusho more than HxH :0

I thought Yuyu Hakusho kicked major ass until the dark tournament ended...

I grew up on Yu Yu Hakusho.

Hunter X Hunter is better on story though, especially on the Genei Ryodan story arc.

Yakitate Japan and the original Dragon Ball, especially the former. Finally, a shonen series with females that aren't tomboys, cheerleaders, damsels in distress, or assholes. There's also enough story and character development to put other, more popular shonen series like InuYasha to shame.

There are female characters in Prince of Tennis? Since when (aside from that girl who likes Ryoma)?

:0 It's incredible. I see lotsa people here with Naruto or One Piece AVs and/or sigs, and this thread gets no attention?

Weird

Shinden:

Oh wait, do sport titles like Prince of Tennis count as shonen? If so, then I can also mention Captain Tsubasa

Well, I personally kept thinking that mentioning Naruto or One Piece would just make you an open target for flaming. lol, I can already see the "N4ru70 suxors u n00b." popping up all over the place. XD

As far as sports manga goes, Eyeshield 21 kicks ass!

Ultimate truth.

I already look up to Hiruma as a role model.

My, I'm dissapointed. I thought people here liked Shonen series Awwww, well, guess Dragon Ball, Naruto or Bleach overwhored the genre too much :/

Anyway, the last days I've been tracking some old school stuff... and for some reason, all the Hokuto no Ken stuff is highly awesome.

Damn, I almost wanted to cry when I saw the chapter when Kenshiro defeats Souther ;(

Anyone else that knows more than me about Hokuto?

Oh, and I'll to post the Saint Seiya Hades' DVD screencaps later It seems that the only place in the entire world where this show is still too damned popular (most popular shonen, in fact) is Latinamerica D:

My favorite shounen has to be Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. It helps that I like the art style, and the characters are really dynamic. Stands are also some of my favorite powers, and they're all pretty unique too.
