Default Bob Barker to retire June 2007

The time to get on that goddamn show is now. We should probably make some Bemanistyle tour group as someone in a group almost always gets to be a contestant.

Sad to see him go but he deserves the rest. Putting up with some of those contestants day after day would drive me insane.

And yeah, a group effort to get one of us on stage would be badass.

I never really watched his show, but I did enjoy his first-class acting in Happy Gilmore.

I had no idea that he was over 70, he does pretty damn well for his age. Sucks to see him go, though, the show is pretty much just about him being there. If they try to keep it going without him it will flop/suck.

I was really hoping that I could be there myself before then. I've known him since the moment I left the womb.

Well, Jay Leno replaced Johnny Carson for the Tonight Show and he's making a fantastic job at it.

They might just find someone as charismatic as Bob Barker himself.

I used to love that show when I was little....that's all I got. Didn't the "Come on down!" guy die a couple of years ago?

You're thinking of Rod Roddy. Rod Roddy was the "A NEW CAR" voice. The games that have expensive cars as prizes were never as exciting when he passed on. I was hoping that I would be able to go on before Bob retires, and that if I did, I would have a R.I.P. Rod Roddy shirt in full display. He's that prominent in my childhood.

Rod Roddy. Greatest game show announcer, also worked with Peter Tomarken (rip both; Roddy I think had health problems... Tomarken and his wife died in a plane crash ;_; )

Rod Roddy had the absolute craziest wardrobe ever. Hot pink jackets and jungle green shirts and stuff. I loved it all.

And that's an interesting question: Who would they possibly get to replace Bob? I cannot think of anyone off the top of my head.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Bob Barker IS the price is right and without him the show probably won't survive.

Hell, he was also responsible for the best scene in a Adam Sandler film when he kicked Happy Gilmore's ass! I still love watching that scene to this day.

The big question, though, is this:

We all know the person who replaces him can't live up to Bob's stature. But will it be someone who has a chance of being tolerable (ie, might someday grow into a decent role as host), or will it be horrible and eye-gougingly obvious we're all going to hate 'em (ie, Louie Anderson hosting Family Feud)?

Honestly, I don't want them to continue the Price is Right without Bob Barker!
