I should watch BR a couple times shortly before the American release, go into the theater, and watch the American BR and make noises and comments that point out why the original is better.

The original really isn't that good. It's fantasically enjoyable, though.  But, uhh, yeah, this one promises not to be either. They'll gut everything good about the original and replace it with more ACTION.
