Default Can it be proven that DJ Tiesto live gigs are pre-recorded???

I ask that question: Can it be proven that he is a fraud when he plays on live audience?

I tried searching (ie. "Tiesto fraud", "Tiesto controversy") but none came out.

So, enlighten me then.....cause if that's the case, I won't go to his live concerts anymore (instead, I'd go for Godskitchen or Above and Beyond gigs).

Well, I'd say a gig is pre-recorded if the DJ doesn't change the CDs in the CD-Js. I don't know about Tiesto specifically though, haha.

Well, who knows whether this may be true or not.

But in case it's indeed true..........then I'd not waste money at all for his performances unless.........

He does a live collaboration with Ferry Corsten just like what happened in SF USA last month.

GOURYELLA TOGETHER AGAIN(???)

From Ferry's blog:

Purmerend, 25 June 2008 - Ferry Corsten will close out his own Flashover Recordings Stage at the Dance Valley festival with none other than Tiësto. This historic event will take place in the Second Valley at Dance Valley.

San Francisco, 24 May 2008. Due to a serious power failure, the ETD POP Festival died a sudden death, just at the moment that the public had reached a state of ecstasy after an amazing set by Ferry Corsten and the first tracks of Tiësto's final set had begun to boom through the venue. One club that still had power was the Ruby Skye, which was filled to capacity as Ferry Corsten turned the tables at the official ETD POP afterparty.

Tiësto, still full of energy after his incomplete set earlier that evening, decided to stop in on his good friend and colleague Ferry Corsten. Ferry immediately pulled him into the DJ booth to continue turning in a back-to-back set. The audience at Ruby Skye instantly felt that dance history was being written that night. Years after Ferry and Tiësto had entered the history books under names such as Gouryella, with their tracks Gouryella and Walhalla, they were again turning tables together for a public that completely blew its top. You can see the proof here: YouTube - Tiesto & Corsten @ Ruby Skye ETD Popsicle 2008 After Party

Not only the public enjoyed the set; Tiësto and Ferry also had a great time. That same evening they decided that they were going to do it again soon.

The perfect venue? Dance Valley Festival! Here Ferry has his own immense open-air stage for Flashover Recordings in the legendary Second Valley, which is returning for the first time since 2002. Although this means that Tiësto is giving up his place on the Dance Valley Main Stage, UDC couldn't let such a unique opportunity go to waste.

After their first spontaneous session in San Francisco, the party people in Spaarnwoude will also be able to enjoy a complete back-to-back set by Ferry Corsten and Tiësto. Two men who are not only among the best DJs ever to come from the Netherlands, but are also two old friends who would rather do nothing more than to share their music with the public.

The event organiser UDC is especially proud to add this unique occasion to the already overfull programme for Dance Valley.

Dance Valley Festival 2008 will take place this year on Saturday, 12 July.

Tickets are available online via UDC Events, www.DanceValley.com - A Journey Into Sound - July 12 2008 and www.ticketservice.nl.
Tickets are also available at all Midtown and Free Record Shop locations.

Gouryella Together Again... - Anjunabeats Forums

If he comes and performs together with Ferry Corsten, then maybe I'd reconsider..

Coz.........I definitely wanna hear "LIGAYA" on a live venue.

There's nothing really 'controversial' about a DJ playing a premade set. Technically, you're still a DJ whether or not you're spinning a set live. however, playing a prerecorded set does mean you have no talent as a DJ.

It's pretty easy to tell, they'll just stand there dancing around while occasionally turning a knob or two, which won't affect it much because there's not much you can do to something that's preset. I've heard personal recollections from friends who've given Tiesto a chance a found out first hand that he's faking it, so.

Strictly by definition, this is false. A DJ's purpose is to play music live for the entertainment of an audience, whether or not that DJ is cheating.

What the fuck are you talking about? Did you go to the Webster for your definition?

If a DJ just says, "Hey fuck you audience I know that I'll have no control over my mixes but I'm just going to put this mix on and jack off to your sister behind the booth." He's not a fucking DJ. I don't give a shit about technicalities, technicalities never made a good DJ.

Also, I think live music for the enjoyment of the audience would constitute mixing, not just sitting there while your fucking record plays smiling like a useless twat about it.

Therein lies a DJ who doesn't mix isn't a fucking DJ. Or are you saying that whenever your friend put in a CD in the car and made you listen to it that all the sudden he's a DJ now because he is playing live music for an audience. So is every douchebag rolling around playing the new Disturbed album and 50 decibels in their Dodge RAM all the sudden a DISK JOCKEY?

Why are you so bent on proving he's fake?

And somewhat irrelevant, last time I checked it was Tiesto, not DJ Tiesto.

Okay. I don't really know what your problem is, but the stick seems pretty far jammed up your ass. I suggest relieving some of the pressure.

No. Apparently you did though. Remember, correlation is not causation.

I never asserted that technicality = a good DJ. In fact, I really meant the exact opposite, that if they are a DJ only by technicality then they're not a good one. If you haven't noticed, I hate DJ Tiesto.

Unless you can specifically prove that a DJ who plays prerecorded mixes is not a DJ instead of just a bad one, then your argument is a No True Scotsman fallacy.

there's a lot more to DJing than just beatmatching transitions between songs. It's the DJ's job to pump up their audience as well so that they have a better time. A DJ that just stands there, mixing or not mixing, is a bad DJ too.

I'll correct my wording; a DJ is someone who plays music live for a party. That should clear up any problems you have, right?

Here you go:

I suppose you're right, but, eh. I'm probably not gonna stop calling him that.
