But would you really want an encore performance. After playing a role like that so well, there would be huge expectations to what the next rendition should be. I'm not saying I'm glad he died, he was brilliant. I just think it might be better this way. Leaving it how it ended, not continuing (lord, let's hope they don't find someone else to do it).

My friend was telling me that Heath Ledger's performance as Joker was so good that he wants that no one else ever play the role of the Joker again.

Well they replaced Katie Holmes roll of Rachel with some ugly chick so I wouldn't be surprised if they made Rosie O'Donnell play the Joker in a sequel.

Friend of mine said she heard that the Joker role was so disturbing that it may have driven Ledger to commit suicide.

To which I replied, "WHY SO SERIOUS?"

I wish people would stop trying to say one role outdoes the other. You're trying to compare two completely different character types. Nicholson's Joker was great, there's no reason to say that his joker is bad in comparison to Ledger. Nicholson's Joker was a comic relief character, with the gag props and crazy circus-like schemes. That was how the Joker was portrayed in the earlier Batman's and he nailed it. Ledger's Joker is a completely different entity. His Joker was a murderous psychopath who was there to inspire horror in the audience. His only gag or motif was having his henchmen wear the clown masks, nothing corny or cheesy. Both are great, but trying to compare them is like comparing a baseball player to a guitar player.

I think Maggie Gyllenhaal is wayyyy hotter than Katie Holmes and I'm really glad they did replace her.

The movie was kinda long for my taste, but still good.

In my opinion, it's a shame that everybody is focusing on Ledger's performance. It was great, that's for sure, but Aaron Eckhard and Gary Oldman were both stellar. If they had that type of performance for any other movie, they would have been in tight contention for best supporting actor IMO.

I liked her pre-tom. Now she tends to remind me of pulp fiction Uma Thurman which most definitely wasn't hot in my book. (and yea, jake's sister ;D)

And I agree 100% with what Kim said. Oldman and Eckhart were both outstanding.

I believe that Ledger's Joker was better than Nicholson's for the sole fact that, although Nicholson played his part very well, his acting was not out-of-the-box. He has the same suave grunginess about him with intermittent comedic relief that he's shown in many other roles he's played. He just made it more clown-like and creepy and it worked.

In all honesty, Ledger plays a role just as true to the comic book series as Nicholson's, because Joker really was a sociopathic killer without any empathy. But the main thing that stood out to me is that he really got into the character's persona, one which was very different from any role he's done before, and it was perfectly believable.

I stand by my statement.

I watched it last weekend with my brother. Overall I thought it was an amazing movie! Everyone who came back to reprise their roles did an excellent job. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was absolutely stellar! It was sick, twisted, and amazing all at the same time (disappearing pencil trick anyone?). I think that Two-Face was a bit short lived just like Venom was in Spider-Man 3. I was hoping that he would carry over into the next film (if there is one planned...I don't know for sure). Overall the movie was brilliant and I enjoyed it very much!
