Boris are consistently pretty awesome. Their albums that have garnered the most attention (Pink and Smile) are actually not their best, but they have a tremendous discography to go through. They tend to alternate between big fat drone/shoegaze stuff and straightforward heavy metal material.
As for Mirai/Dr. Mikannibal, they're from a band called Sigh. They pretty much shit all over all the "J-Rock" bands out there.

Persoally though, I do love stuff from the KOTOKO, Mami Kawada and other members of the I've sound group. In fact, they're might favorite female Japanese music group .
I really love their music (and I feel taken away by it)

Btw, I almost thought that you mentioned Aoyama Thelma (the shy singer who sings slow songs). On the plus side though, she's not that bad a singer and one her latest songs (used in that Tales to Earthsea anime from Hayao Miyazaki) felt quite deep.

Also yeah, Ken Hirai is indeed something (especially his song elegy/aika which basically nearly drained the life out of him to just sing it).
Though technically not Japanese, the singer named "Jyongri" is indeed something. Heck, you should see hear her song "Possession" and see the music video and/or live performance of it.
Indeed crazy yet she sings so well
