Ours too (here in the Philippines).

Though I forget what episode is currently showing.

Anyways, it's showing everyday in our country so it's quite good.

Ocean is like the only english dub company I know, respect and actually care about.

Except for X's voice in Maverick Hunter X, most of their shit is good.

They've mainly worked in videogames, IIRC.

I do like their job dubbing Megaman X7 (only good thing out of that game), X8, Command Mission, Maverick Hunter X and Megaman Powered Up. No idea about animes, though.

Heh guess it's personal opinion/preference.

Well.......
Personally, I don't see them as being sucky. In reality, I kinda like the quality of dubs that they produce there (heck certainly better than what Odex and Singaporean english dubs can produce anytime).

I mean look at the projects that they've done. Gundam Wing (TV series plus the movie) were done quite well IMHO and that's what made me watch it......especially for Endless Waltz. Same goes for their Galaxy Angel dubs (which ARE on par witht their Japanese counterparts). Their Inu Yasha dub projects are pretty well and solid (especially for the movies which were done so well that I'd give it a B+ anytime). Moving on, they were also responsible for the Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. Of course though, other than the guy voicing Shinn Asuka (whose voice sounded kinda lame in GSD......but was kinda good when he did ZOIDS), the voices ARE STELLAR. I mean, you have a complete all-star Ocean cast for this show and let's not forget about Sam Vincent (who can do Athrun and make 10000 times better than the Japanese VA can) and Anna Cummer (who was the sole reason made Miriallia Haw my favorite character in GS and GSD). I also wanna make special mention to Venus Torzo who did the voice for Capt. Talia Gladys and serves as another example of the English VA being better than the Japanese VA in that given role. All said, I can say that the dubs for GS and GSD really matches with the Japanese VA cast in virtually ALL aspects.

As Mai Hime and Mai Otome though, well...........the dubbing is kinda okay. Good......but not something to get excited for (and in those moments the Japanese VA cast is still better). Still, the quality will still please to many dub fans.

And let's NOT FORGET about them handling Death Note which featured BRAD SWAILE at his BEST PERFORMANCE EVER. He beats the Japanese VA counterpart TO A PULP.. If you're not sure what I mean, then check out the Kira's (Light Yagami) laugh in episode 37. Real sinister and is something that I didn't expect from Brad Swaile (who did well in ZOIDS animes and the GS and GSD series).

As for PPGZ though, I'll be honest and say that the dub is okay. Still you may find the voices of Buttercup and Bubbles to be irritating. On the plus side though, Mojo has a good voice actor who really sounds like what he is in the orginal cartoon. Not to mention of course that Nicole Bouma is handling the voice of Blossom and she does it REALLY WELL. Good job to her.

So what am I saying here? Well I guess to each is his/her own....but that doesn't mean that Ocean Group sucks in general. Sure they may not be as good as Bang Zoom/New Generation studios (the California dubbers) or even those from Texas (ADV/Funimation)........but they don't suck either (as seen with the examples I've given above).

Ocean group is a good dubbing company with a high-quality track record that has lasted for more than a decade. Hence the reason why they are the top three best English dubbing company in the world.

Two cents

All I'm saying is that I cannot think of a single Ocean Group dub that I found remarkable, as with the other companies you mentioned. As for all the shows you mentioned as dubbed by them, I either hated them or am not interested in them. As far as I'm concerned, I believe all voice actors have their place; it's just that most of the time they're put in the wrong place. For example, Laura Bailey belongs on a pedestal for the simple reason that any project she participates in is instantly made better (see Negima!; even though most of the voices are bad, the characters she plays are the most memorable. You will not find a sexier fake British accent if you tried.) On the other side of the spectrum, Tiffany Grant belongs in a dumpster because every single voice she does destroys whatever she's in. However, I concede that she is best seen, not heard, as she is a much better writer than voice actress.

Of course, none of this means anything if the direction sucks.

Just out of curiosity, I just watched first and second chapters of LS dubbed in english.

... after facepalming a lot of times (for exactly the same reasons I didn't like the dubbed versions, both english and spanish, of Excel Saga) I switched to japanese again.

Well yeah.

For instance, I've seen previews of Karin and while it was a bit good, the other voices are really faltering (even if the lead VA is actually an American).

Still not yet even close to english dubs produced by North American studios.

So to a minimal level, it's........kinda okay if your watching these dubs on TV or if your watching them for free........but I'd never spend a single cent into listening to these dubs.

Heck, the dub quality from Odex and other english dubs produced in the Asian region are NOT up to par yet...........and you'd be better off switching to a Japanese language track instead because of the sub-par quality.

Found out that once season 1 of Code Geass is finished on Adult Swim, the 2nd season will start airing.

Also found out that the final (6th) DVD of Shuffle! (haven't been watching the series, anyone have an opinion of it?), which will be released as both normal & special edition, will include a pair of (I'm serious) "God" panties worn by the main character Sia.

Instead of having an artbox at the beginning of the series, they decided to wait until the final DVD. I find that kinda wierd...

I heard that Shuffle was good. I haven't seen it but I have Shuffle! Memories, which is basically a recap until the last episode which I watched like a minute and found enjoyable.

old

But I heard they weren't going to give it an artbox unless it sold well. Artboxes should never come with the first volume anyway.

Japanator reviewed the 1st issue of Yen+

Honestly, the only things that look interesting is Higurashi (coming out in November!) & Soul Eater (which comes out in October of 2009, almost a year away). Not to mention it's $4 more per issue than Shonen Jump (it's $9 per issue & $50 for a year subscription). They're also bringing over the Haruhi Suzumiya manga, coming in October (I kinda rather read the original light novels since that's were it all started, like Welcome To The NHK, one of my fav. series & books)
