The only Gundam season I had to watch (don't ask why) was Wing... UGH. Someone shoot Hiro and Relena. The show was average, but the characters touched my nerves a lot of times.
I'll probably see the other seasons, if Animax dares to buy the rights. I am curious to watch Seed and see why people hates it, it looks nice in my opinion.

The haters are only clamoring against it because they don't want a contemporary legend overlapping Amuro Ray. Well, screw them, I like Kira Yamato and all of his Ultimate Coordinator goodness.
I only support the hating towards Gundam Wing. The only saving grace for it was Trowa, Quatre, and Zechs. the rest of the cast can throw themselves off a cliff for all I care, ESPECIALLY Heero and Relena.
Seed Destiny was a bit annoying though, thanks in part to Shinn Asuka and his Kamille Bidan-esque charm, complete with an almost emotionless clone for a devil's advocate in the person of Rey Za Burrel, as well as an ill-fated love interest (who went in almost the same way as Four Murasame), Stellar Loussier. But that's no big deal, the original cast from Seed still proved to be the true stars of the show. He was just there as an integral pawn to Gilbert Dullindal's Destiny Plan. In other words, Shinn was a total spazz just like Bidan.
If there's one thing I really didn't like about Seed Destiny, it's the fact that they're reviving the Zakus and Goufs and passing them off as "new" in ZAFT when they're already old hat stuff for the Zeon forces in the original series. It just goes to show that the mecha designers aren't particularly inspired when designing non-Gundam units. Most of the funny-named ZAFT mobile suits (i.e. JINN, BuCue, and BaBi) looked like total garbage to me.
But beyond those little whiskers, I still like the series. I wish I can get to read the actual manga of it one day.

my favorite would have to be 8th MS team, as real as it could get. seed and destiny had great MS designs, but the story could have been a little bit better. i wish i could watch Turn A though, i cant find it anywhere. all i have are boxsets for 8th MS team, 0080, 0081, Z gundam, ZZ Gundam, Wing, G Gundam, and Seed.

So far I watched or own the dvd collection of the entire series: Gundam 0079, Zeta Gudam, ZZ Gundam, X Gundam, Gundam Wing, G Gundam. I'm nearing the end of Stardust Memories right now, I got three more episodes to go.
The thing about these more recent series is that the pilots are young as hell, sometimes that translates into their personalities. I hate an annoying little brat piloting a mobile suit, it just turns me off. Heero should have died a long time ago, I don't care how he dies. Relena should die with him, locked in a flaming cockpit, so they could both burn in hell. Oh hell, I hate Gundam Wing in general.
The latest mobile suit designs are also very strange and flashy on occasions. I'm not really digging the latest gundams.
Also accompanying this unhealthy obsession are the Gundam Models. I only buy the 1/100th scales though, so it's expensive to keep building.

Nobody can replace Amuro Ray, the only exception being Char.
I really dislike the Z Gundam remake to 'appeal to more modern audiences'. More like appeal to Gundam Seed fanbrats, amirite.
To not completely bash the series, I love Seed and Destiny's mobile suits. The Zaku, Gouf and Doms got a decent remake, and the Gundams are, while not so innovative weaponry-wise, pretty cool in terms of design. I just absolutely loathe the characters. Almost every single one of them. Actually, just the young ones. People like Mu and Waltfeld could very well fit in most of the older Gundam series. Quote: |

It's just that they made them even more cannon fodder than the Zakus in OYW (One Year War). Arming the Jinns with normal non-beam/heat blades and machine guns against Phase Shift armor? Nice job there.

Oh and I place a wager that Amuro, Char, and Camille can single handedly take down all the Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed characters. Because they are just that damn good!

Throw in Judau however...

EDIT: Wow, that was quite possibly the worst post I've ever made.
I really should get back into Gundam but I don't think I ever will. I don't really like seed, because, I don't know, space fights never really interested me. Hence why I liked 8th MS Team.

One of my favorites, though was After War Gundam X. I just liked it. Shame to see it being cancelled and scrapped, I liked some of the ideas the show had.
I liked Wing a lot when I was younger, but when I rewatched it a number of years later, especially after seeing the other series, I thought that the really generic characters ruined it. Some of the designs for the MS were really nice, though. Deathscythe Hell Custom was badassedry in pretty much it's pure form. | |

Salamis class ships or not, the ships were not bobbing out there by themselves with no weapons or defenses. The fact that Char got passed the defenses of enemy mobile suits, then avoid enemy fire from the ships, then destroyed them with the weapons he had. That is a testament of his skills as a newtype.
