Harry Potter VII Title Announced

Rowling's U.S. publisher, Scholastic Inc., released a brief statement Thursday announcing the name of the world's most anticipated children's book, the finale to her phenomenally popular fantasy series.

No publication date or other details were offered. Rowling is still working on the book, she explained on her Web site in an entry posted early Thursday.

"I'm now writing scenes that have been planned, in some cases, for a dozen years or even more," she wrote. "I don't think anyone who has not been in a similar situation can possibly know how this feels: I am alternately elated and overwrought. I both want, and don't want, to finish this book (don't worry, I will.)"

Rowling said she has been asked for years if she ever dreams she is in the boy wizard's world.

"The answer was 'no' until a few nights ago, when I had an epic dream in which I was, simultaneously, Harry and the narrator," she wrote.

"Perhaps I should cut back on the caffeine?" she joked.

Rowling also said she saw a 20-minute preview of the fifth Harry Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," which she said "looks fantastic." The latest movie in the blockbuster series will be released in July.

Meanwhile, she set up a test for her Potter fans.

If you go to her home page, click on the eraser and you will be taken to a room -- you'll see a window, a door and a mirror.

In the mirror, you'll see a hallway. Click on the farthest doorknob and look for the Christmas tree. They click on the center of the door next to the mirror and a wreath appears. Then click on the top of the mirror and you'll see a garland.

Look for a cobweb next to the door. Click on it, and it will disappear. Now, look at the chimes in the window. Click on the second chime to the right, and hold it down. The chime will turn into the key, which opens the door. Click on the wrapped gift behind the door, then click on it again and figure out the title yourself by playing a game of hangman.

Or you can just take Scholastic's word for it.

The Harry Potter books have sold more than 300 million copies and have been translated into 63 languages.

Hm, out of speculation, I think....Harry AND ol' Voldy'll both die off, in traditional "Emo Hero 'And I'm taking you with me!' " fashion. :P

She has already stated she wants to kill him off so other authors can't pick up where she leaves off. I doubt she'll do it though, since fans would litterally kill themselves as well.

in grade 6 i did a study on j.k rowling and the harry potter books and i found out that she'll only make 7 books so this one will be the last one that she'll write.

the sixth book wasn't that interesting. only surprising thing that happened was dumbledore's death.

Of course Harry won't die. Neville Longbottom will be the hero (In the I died in the last book to save the person who you thought would be the hero but isn't the hero at the last second- Fashion).

Most likely. That's what everyone thinks will happen.

There is also going to be a twist, that involves Voldemort using Harry's blood for a resurrection. She hinted that Dumbledore knew something he never revealed involving Harry's blood in Voldemort.

I also expect Voldemorte to loose his magic ability, yet still be alive. It goes along with that "there are still fates worse then death, and he fails to see that". Voldemort is just name that embodies his wizard self, and hides the true half-blood name behind it. I expect "Voldemort" will die, and his muggle-self will live.

Hm... maybe hagrid?

I'm not sure if I'll pick this one up; usually whenever a new title comes out I read all the prior books THEN the new one, like a fuckin marathon, so that might take me a day. We'll see. Predictions says this book is at least 1500 pages, close to 2000.

I honestly see no issue with that cause it's really funny to do to people who wait in line for hours on end! Granted I know it's a very mean thing to do, but why would somebody wait for psychotic amounts of time for a book?

When You can just wake up at a normal hour, then walk into Waldens or Boarders, and buy one of the numerous copies they have anyway. I have no idea why people would actually go out at midnight.

I got the 6th book there, way worth it because I'm cheap as all hell when it comes to books.

But on the 7th one itself, I wouldn't be surprised if the plot twisted in favour of another character like Neville. Really, the amount of times they mention Neville being possibly the subject of the prophecy, would make it kind of lame if they just went that way.

If it was something even crazier and less predictable, I think it would end the series fairly well.
