Default iPod vs. Zune

Where are you in iPod vs. Zune? Which do you think is better? Which has better appeal? Features? Interface? Discuss.

I like the iPod because the older models support Rockbox.

I prefer my ZEN Vision:M to either of those tbqh, it's simple, easy to use, and not loaded up with a bunch of bullshit

Zune's a fantastic piece of hardware, and the Zune pass is a great deal. You pay about 15 bucks per month for complete access to their music store, unlimited downloads as long as you're paying the monthly fee.

Also the max storage you can get on a Zune is 80GB and it's priced competitively to the iPod 80GB.

ZEN Vision:M might also be good I don't know.

I've owned all the mp3 players in question at one point, and this was the best of all of them. Fantastic battery life and 50 dollars cheaper than the others. The only complaint I have though is that mine seems to duplicate songs sometimes.

Being able to sync wirelessly is really the only Zune feature I like

But no FLAC, no Rockbox, no gapless, and a million other gripes keep it from making it great. I got mine as a gift so I really didn't have a choice. It works fine for me but I would have gotten something better if I had a choice.

Exactly. Rockbox is where it's at. With the support of so many file types, it's customizable themes & other features take my vote.

You're not going to find any commercial MP3 player with FLAC support out of the box, and the same with gapless playback.

I mean Rockbox will help in some of that regard but what do you expect, the majority of the market to actually know what FLAC and Ogg and that shit is?

Strangely, I'm a fan of the touch variant (Iphone without the phone).

Otherwise, both players seem very good.

Maybe one or two, right? (THIS IS CLEARLY A HYPERBOLE I AM JUST ILLUSTRATING THE FALLACY IN HAVING A RELATIVELY LOW CAPACITY PLAYER THAT OFFERS FLAC PLAYBACK OUT OF THE BOX)
