I just always thought "hardcore", being a genre, meant a sort of mix of punk and metal. To me this was always what Japanese Hardcore was.
Oh and Yuma Asami ftw, but oh wait its in media discussion hurrr

there seems to be a hardcore version of every genre anymore...hardcore punk, hardcore techno, hardcore rap, hardcore gospel, hardcore adult contemporary, you name it
