If so what are you thoughts on it? Please if you really dont even like Linkin Park please just dont say anything in this thread. I dont want to start anything with anyone
SO I think its great I feel it was about time they moved on from the "Linkin Park" sound this album shows their growth in a lot of ways and I hope this trend continues. I dont have a favorite song yet but I like the whole CD.
anyway, comments?

I'm not a fan of this style that they switched to its more punky-ishness I never considdered them Emo myself, theres many bands that are wayyy more emo than them IMO. I really only have 2 songs that I really like on the CD, Bleed it out, and What I've Done.
I was always a fan of the Asian influenced Rock with a bit of extra on the side, style they've had but this stuff seems really out of place for them, and forgive this comment but I've always liked how they only cussed in one song (being High Voltage) the over use of cursing in this CD doesn't feel right.

Hybrid Theory was actually fairly good minus a few songs, Reanimation wasn't bad either, and then it started going downhill. Their new sound is indicative of the fact that they're just changing their style to cater to whatever's popular at the time. And shitty whiny emo is popular, so they're doing it. Kinda sad.

If anything, this album has sealed the thought that Mike Shinoda needs to stop rapping and just produce. Bleed it Out is so freaking annoying. Songs like Shadow of the Day though I thought were beautiful.

I like how whenever I put on Collision Course, I change the song after Jay's part is over. It must've beat the shit out of any sort of confidence Mike had to rap along side Jay Z.
I didn't like "What I've Done" and that's all of the album I've heard so far. I actually kind of liked "Qwerty" when I heard it though.

Fort Minor had great production value and great guest rappers, even co-produced by JayZ. Unfortunately, when its Mike's turn =/ just listen to songs like Feel Like Home and Slip out the Back. Wonderful, but Mike Shinoda sucks.
Edit: I'd like to point out that Shadow of the Day sounds a lot like U2...
Edit: I also agree with the topic creator that their sound has become very stale over the years, so this is a welcome surprise.

Also, I like how hard Mike tries to emulate the styles of any rapper he has on a track with him, I remember on the track he did with Apathy, he totally bit his style. Not that the boy doesn't need help with his flow, he's just trying so hard to keep up.

I don't know what is with that song, but I've loved it for the last 2+ years. Minutes to Midnight is definitely a drastic change from their old albums (especially since this is the first album to wear the "parental advisory" sticker when they said that their music didn't needed cuss words to sound good), and although I don't enjoy it as much as their old stuff, change is nice. I may have to listen to the album like 5 times through to actually appreciate it (I absolutely hated 30 Seconds to Mars' A Beautiful Lie until I was writing an essay and just let it play over and over; it's one of my favorite albums now).

But otherwise... yeah. Completely agree.

I dunno, maybe I'm unfairly panning Reanimation, because I haven't listened to it for several years (like since it came out). Maybe I still have the disc somewhere... if I find it, I'll try giving it another listen.

I have been listening to the new album alot here and I find it very good. It keeps growing on me. And for kicks today I popped in Hybrid Theory and then Meteora and, I have to say... I dont like those CDs anymore.... The only song I still like is Breaking the habit. I think that was the song that started their musical change. That song is fantastic. I still like Faint and From the inside as well. But all the Hybrid Theory songs I just dont care for anymore.
Again I must say I like the change and I hope in the future they polish some more
P.S. Reanimation is still a fucking awesome CD!

Hey come on, One Step Closer was definitely the best song on Hybrid Theory, it's probably the only song I can still stand to listen to from either of their past albums.
