Default Musicals!

Like a lot of members, I just use this place for the simfiles.

This is my first post.

YouTube - Wicked, Avenue Q Style!

And on that note, who among you is a fan of Broadways? And if anyone can find me a Wicked, Les Miz, or Avenue Q simfile of playable quality that's compatible with Stepmania, I'll be your slave for life.

25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels are my favorites.

The Jersey Boys rocked on Broadway. Wicked was decent, I liked it more than it seemed like I was going too.

I loved Les Mis, Tarzan, The Fantasticks, and Chicago, and played percussion for Wizard of Oz, Ragtime, and Once On This Island. I want to play in Broadway musicals for a career, I love it so much. :3

But I rather doubt that original cast recordings will make good simfiles. The singers are somewhat liberal with the tempo at times, so it would be hard to step to some of the songs. =/

As much as I've ragged on the book, the Les Miz musical is pretty great. Helped in no small part by the truncation, I'm sure.

If we include operas, Grieg's "Peer Gynt" is always wonderful.

For simple musicals, though... Hairspray is a new favorite; The Producers... well, the Mel Brooks name alone should speak for it; and I'll wrap it up by asserting that Nightmare Before Christmas is a musical and I'm a Danny Elfman fanboy.

oh man I totally forgot about The Producers and Spamalot. Two of the funniest nights I ever had. XD Now that I think harder about it, I've seen a lot of musicals. o.o

Spamalot is kickass. Wicked was...wicked. Phantom of the Opera is of course a classic. Honestly, I don't think I can get tired of watching Phantom.
We Will Rock You was nice. A bit weak from a technical standpoint, but so amazingly entertaining you won't care. Especially if you like Queen.

I seen all on Broadway in NYC:

Lion King
Phantom Of the Opera
Wicked
Jersey Boys
The Producers

& by far, I loved the Jersey boys. The Proucers come close to my favorite. :P

I saw an 'off Broadway' production of Spamalot down here, and it was amazing.

I don't know if this counts, but I'm really looking forward to the film adaptation of Sweeney Todd.

Have you seen the trailer for that yet? Normally I'm a fan of the Burton/Elfman/Depp trio, but here... something just doesn't feel like it's clicking or something. I don't know. I'm not getting my hopes too high, 'cause I'd hate for it to not live up to my expectations.

Didn't know there was a trailer. I just know I love the play.

I've been involved in like three different productions of it.

Oh hey. No Elfman listed in the credits. Maybe this has something to do with it? Because frankly, Depp sounds a little... ill-fitting with the singing.

Les Miserables rocks but, I prefer the movie a LOT more to the broadway musical version. Jean Val Jean is hotter in the movie. XD
