Popular in Canada but now in the States?

Haven't you ever noticed artists that aren't Canadian but still much much much much popular in Canada than the US?

Lady Gaga fucking sucks, they were literally giving her CD away at my local record store.

But American indie rockers have an obsessions with anything not American and I'd imagine CDs are cheaper for us than they are for Canadians.

Who the heck is Lady Gaga? I've never heard that name before. Also, why are we worrying about who's popular in Canada? Each country has their own taste and hype. Am I making sense at all? I sure hope so. >_>

Now, if these opinions were because of bands like Rush or Martyr or Quo Vadis, I would agree. However... Canada also has Celine Dion, and that instantly invalidates that potential argument.

OH no, I got a giveaway, free giveaway of her Just Dance EP and thought it was downright pathetic. I couldn't imagine she'd actually gain a following a couple months down.
