Resident Evil : Extinction (yes, the third movie)

And you thought Paul W.S. Anderson was done? Not even close.

Not while Milla Jovovich's acting career still lives, at least.

RE '3' is filming right now.

The movie's called Extinction, and:

-Not directly based on any of the games

-Takes place in a Post Apocalyptic world where zombies have taken over and stray bands of humans are fighting for what's left... Taking place THREE DAYS after Apocalypse, with one third of the US infected and lots of nuking having gone down

-Will be directed by the director of Highlander, Russell Mulcahy (It's still written by Paul W.S. Anderson)

-Nearly all the survivors of RE: Apocalypse are back, including Alice, Jill, Carlos, Dr. Isaacs, (whatever the name of the guy Omar Epps played was), etc.
Except one. Supposedly Angela Ashford is revealed to have died before the movie begins. Which here means the actress who played her was probably done. :P

-Claire Redfield will be in it. (Played by Ali Larter, who I believe was in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back)

-AND GUESS WHO ELSE!

It's about dang time on him being involved.

There's lots more details, including a lengthy script exposition, but I won't read more than the first paragraph of that.

But what I glanced at looks good. This could be way better than Apocalypse if they pull it off right, and it was described by Ali Larter as "Mad Max meets The Birds", whatever that could mean.

Who's the guy with the sunglasses you're psyched about? Also, is it worth my time watching the first two movies in preparation for this one? I've never played the games, but I've heard the movies are bad (and I'm not playing the games no matter how good they are).

Albert Wesker.

He's part of the S.T.A.R.S. team sent to investigate the Raccoon City mansion in the first movie, except
he turns out to be working for Umbrella, the guys who created the viruses o' death.

In the later games he's also extremely powerful/manipulative.
He's been in RE1, probably Zero, Code Veronica, and 4.

And yeah, considering that Paul's going into his own little world with the RE movies, you definetly should watch the first two, especially to catch up on Alice's exploits. He mostly focuses the movies on her and has the people who are from the games appearing as supplement.

I really didn't like Apocalypse much, but the first movie is amazing.

You could just go watch Love Actually, since she's in that.

It's a total 180 from what she plays in RE:A though, probably.

I thought she was a pretty terrible actress, she only looked the part of Jill.

So... looks like they finally decided on the name for the third one.

Okay, the Resident Evil movies really really piss me off. And they piss me off because the main reason I play the RE games is because the plots are awesome and the series as a whole has a sweet, deep, involving continuity. Why the movies have to take random parts of the games, chop them up, and then glue them back together with Hollywood's shit is beyond me. The first one was so bad it was almost not MSTable. The second was a step up, but was poorly shot, overproduced, and

WORST BULLSHIT EVER

So not really looking forward to this at all.

But, hey, Wesker is the shit. Hopefully he'll be as much of a badass motherfucker as always.

the first and second movie was pissed me off. . .
second movie's better because jill was there, but i'm still dissapointed that she didn't take an important role there...

i hope the 3rd movie will be better...anyway that last screenshot was disgusting, who is she?

I can't wait to see how they work Wesker into all of this. That just might be RE:E's only saving grace.

Also, I liked RE1 way more than 2. 2's story wasn't as original, had some terrible acting(congratulations on looking like Jill, Sienna, that's all you can do), and yes, they turned Nemesis into a joke.

3 has a director with somewhat more background, so maybe he can salvage it.

And if the fourth movie isn't about Leon, Spain, and lots of pitchfork-wielding Spaniards, I'll be sorely disappointed.

Then again, that's probably not likely if you've read the fake backstory Screen Gems came up with for Apocalypse like I have.

I have a newspaper article from the 'Raccoon City Times' they distributed around the time of RE:A's theatrical release.

It mentions Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine's "partner", having been killed in a zombie attack.

That's okay. Think about what's been the driving force of this franchise so far: Milla Jovovich. They'd have to end up making her into the lake monster or something for that to be greenlit.
