Default So I watched Dragonball Evolution today...

and surprisingly enough...it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Here's some things I liked and didn't like about it (spoiler free since it's not out in the US yet...but I will tag em anyway just in case):

Likes:
While there were tons of changes (see below), it wasn't nearly as bad as many of the video game movies (See: Anything directed by Paul W.S. Anderson or Uwe Boll)
Even though there's a lot of stuff wrong with it, there is still enough entertainment value to watch the whole thing. Kinda like a train wreck.
It wasn't D-War...god that movie is such a shit pile

Dislikes:
A lot of the changes made are completely ridiculous and make no sense whatsoever.
Some of the minor key characteristics of the main characters were kept while some really important ones were left out.
A few scenes serve no real purpose.
It's not very graphic.
There are some really big holes in the storyline.
Some of the special effects were pretty good...but some of them were god-awful.
The casting is atrocious and the acting is mediocre at best.
Bulma never gets naked :P

I give it a 4/10 (although if it weren't Dragonball it would be about a 5.5 or a 6)

*MODS: I didn't feel like this was in-depth enough to put into the Reviews section (plus I didn't see anything about movies there). Feel free to toss it in there*

The turtle guy in the anime doesn't have the turtle shell in movie.
I doubt Chou Yun Fatt will even wear one for the movie, he's so well-known for his ego.

Guess it confirms everyone's worst fears.

Anyhow, thanks for that. You just saved me money (not only by skipping this in the cinema) but also on the home release. Since it's that bad, it doesn't warrant a purchase on original DVD (at least when it comes out).

I'm going to watch it, if for no other reason than the fact that it has the word Dragonball in it.

This was a good movie, and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Was it an amazing movie? Was it life-changing? No. No, it was not. Was it good? Yes. Yes, it was.

I predict a boycott for this movie will be very effective. You can tell the creators have already anticipated the fizzle before they released it. So although they may get away with movies as ill advised as this, we have finally reached the point where many of us have stopped supporting these insults.

What the fuck are you talking about with insults? To who? The weeaboo community? Last I checked a movie aimed directly at them won't make shit, but a movie using a name recognized by a good number of people with only a passing relationship to the original, and made to be more acceptable to normal people, will make a hell of a lot more money. Movie companies aren't here to appease people. And a boycott won't accomplish anything either.

I tried to watch it once when I was like 10 and I was just like "This isn't that good guys"
