Cancellation
On September 20, 2008, Cartoon Network canceled the block and has aired its final transmission. Employees who worked on the block will be going to other parts of the channel. Anime will be mostly handled by Adult Swim, and there will be a action block replacing Toonami on Friday nights afterwards. Toonami Jetstream will remain without the Toonami name.[2][3][4] At the end of Toonami's final airing, the host, voiced by Steven Blum, ended the block by saying "bang", echoing the final word of his character Spike Spiegel at the end of Cowboy Bebop.

I remember watching stuff like Rave Master (well, some of it. Before it moved to like 6 AM Sundays). I still remember them airing Sailor Moon (I saw some episodes at a hospital every week until they stopped airing it), Hamtaro, Megas XLR (now THAT was a sweet american cartoon show!), those brief airings of MAR & The Prince Of Tennis, & One Piece until they took it off & I had no reason to watch it anymore. I remember when it was actually on MORE than just Saturdays. I remember them promoting Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo, wondering what it was, & discovering one of my fav. animes ever...

Finally. They shouldve done this years ago when Toonami stopped being... well... Toonami.

It hasn't been Toonami since I was in high school at best.

Thank you cartoon network for putting this one out of its misery. Do us all a favor and don't fuck up the next cool thing you come up with.

Here in Asia........

Well Toonami is only on weekends.........but it is slightly fucked up at least in my book (as they only show sentai programs like Ryukendo, the Masked Rider stuff and..........gawd Power rangers from Wild Force, SPD and shit).

I too predict that by next decade, it will die off too as well..........unless they replace it with programming that people WILL ACTUALLY LIKE.

I remember seeing Tom's makeover. I was shocked to see he had a FACE.

I've read that CN is going to import the Japanese spin-off of Powerpuff Girls & Toonami Jetstream will be online. Also, on Anime News Network:

The 2002 live-action Spider-Man film will run instead of Toonami on September 27, although most television listings have not been updated yet. Batman: Gotham Knight, this summer's Japanese-animated video tie-in to The Dark Knight film, will then run on October 4 at 8:00 p.m. After Batman: Gotham Knight, an episode of Naruto, "Powerful Helper," will run at 9:30 p.m., but there are no other episodes scheduled yet.

I also remember watching Zatch Bell. They also never finished that series...

I remember back in either 2002 or 2003 they had this really cool Shockwave game series that involved destroying viruses or whatever in the ship's computer. That was the best thing to come out that year.
