It's the mainstream subversion of something that was created to run against the mainstream. YouTube - Destruction - Nailed to the Cross
Destruction are incredible. 25+ years, and still going plenty strong. They put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen, and played for nearly two hours... much to the complaint of the venue's manager.

Anyone who says that Pulse was not a fantastic return to form for Front 242 is dumb. ): I'm just waiting for the next album...

Not willingly, mind you.
I'm planning to plug in some headphones to my Laptop and tune out to some Beneath The Massacre.
Edit: "Entrepreneur" by Dead Will Rise. Another short-lived grind band I found on Pandora. Pretty good stuff, though.

I love this band's riffing style. Still very thrash, while maintaining a strong individual identity. Anyone who says thrash is a stagnant or limited genre has not heard this band.
(edited for adding youtube linkage... I own the CDs for pretty much everything I list in this thread, but links are good in case anyone is actually interested.)

It's one thing if we're talking a classic NY style thrash/crossover breakdown, because that just involves playing a different riff at a slightly slower speed before going back to the 160 BPM thrashing. But this whole "brutal" death metal crap with ridiculously slow and simple chugging... I'd call it overused, but it was never a good idea in the first place. Diamond Plate: "Relativity"
Okay, the song is not up on youtube, but that's not all surprising. They're a Chicago area local group, and the members are still in high school... no signing to a label until they've graduated. So for now, I've just linked to their myspace. They're a bunch of pretty cool kids and worth your time if you like thrash metal at all.

Porcupine Tree - The Incident album.
Wilson has upped the ante on this album compared to Fear Of A Blank Planet. Very dark and creepy in some parts but that's his formula. | |

True story: the band had to tell their guitarist to stop adding riffs and more parts to the song. Had they not stopped him, the song would be over twice the length it is. Personally, I would have loved to see that, and I'm disappointed that they didn't go all out, considering the whole album is under 40 minutes as is. But hey, Jim said that he wouldn't mind a reunion sometime in the future, so there's still hope of seeing them pull it off live.
Spectrum of Death remains one of my favorite albums of all time. Not just thrash albums, not just metal albums, but albums in music as a whole. It's been reissued on Power Play records. Pick it up. If you like fast, loud, aggressive music, you should hear this.
