Default Why is there no Iron Man thread?

Movie fucking ROCKED. Robert Downy Jr. was the perfect actor for the job.

I wanted to make one but I saw the screening. There's nothing to not like here (aside from the product placement, but it's used to further the detail rather than blatantly advertise and even then either it's only present for, or I stopped noticing it after the first 45 minutes or so Tony Stark on the cover of Wired is hot). Even the dialogue doesn't feel contrived and gay. When the dude isn't out at social events being a dick, he's out breaking something or cracking skull with heavily exaggerated vigor. With all that and a twist ending (I consider what happened at the final press conference a twist for no other reason other than I didn't see his response coming), there's no way this isn't going to win awards.

[Edit]By the way did something happen after the credits?

I didn't stay to find out if there was something after the credits, but in retrospect I probably should have.

I hate it when they do that.

Wikipedia claims that after the credits some guy from SHIELD introduces Tony to the Avengers project. I wonder if that means they're going to make a movie for Captain America and the others?

That would be pretty cool, but my issue with that is they would more than likely need movies to introduce all of those characters as well, and that would just be excessive.

I wouldn't put it past them to try that though.

Might see it today, and yes there is something at the end of the movie. I've heard there is a forty second pause after the credits are over. Then there is an extra.

And I'm pretty lenient on movies so I never really hated any superhero movies. But they were always kind of so-so for me (I like indie comics rather than superhero comics). But a lot o people are raving about Iron Man so hope it's good. :D

If they are all as awesome as Iron Man I wouldn't complain.

Ghost World was a very awesome comic and movie that went far too unnoticed.

on topic: I want to see this movie very badly.

Watched it last night. Stayed at the end credits for the short clip which I never do. Samuel L Jackson was the guy from SHIELD who talks to Tony about the Avengers project. I enjoyed it overall.

To be more specific, Samuel L. Jackson is Nick Fury.

I loved the movie. Iron Man was the first comic book that I really got into, and Robert Downy Jr. completely pulled off Tony Stark.

I heard that the movie's going to be a trilogy. Could there be two other Iron Man movies better than this one?

Goddamnit, looks like they're going to follow Ultimate canon. I prefer white hardass cyclops Nick Fury.
At least Thor is going to have a cool beard.

I just got back from seeing this movie. I'm glad I saw this thread, it's full of good news.

I watched it last week and bam this movie was spot on. Fans liked it and even the critics liked it (91% at RottenTomatoes.com).

Way better than Fantasic Four 1 & 2 combined IMHO.

And also good news as this is planned to be a movie trilogy and what's more, there are already plans to introduce the Avengers film series.

The Avengers (film series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After Iron Man 1, the next film for this year will be the Incredible Hulk (starring Edward Norton).

Dear lord. This is sure to surpass the budgets of all of the Lord of the Rings movies combined.
