Default Onsen Song Remixed / Nice Guy Jin / pop'n music 12 / English

Onsen Song Remixed

It’s a paradise, the hot spring
It’s a paradise, the hot spring
It’s a paradise, the hot spring
Let’s step in
Let’s step in
It’s a paradise, the hot spring

*Let’s go to hot spring
Tighten loincloth
Let’s step in
Let’s step in
To the open-air bath paradise

*Repeat

The excitement is about to begin
Wait a minute
It’s a bit embarrassing
The bath here is for both genders,
Women and men step in
My towel
A little too small for me
My behind is totally exposed
But front is concealed
I dip myself into the bath
Chilling at the hot spring

*Repeat

*Repeat

(I love the hot spring, it makes it much better with unisex bath, yeah) x 2

Around this one man
Bubbles are forming up
Clearly giving off this smell
Sort of appears to resemble foam bubbles popping
It echoed in my head snapping away my psyche
10 minutes it has been foaming up continuously
At that instant I realized!
Ah~Feels so great
It surely is paradise, the hot spring

I noticed in the romanji for this song, in the lyrics database, it goes "Hairou zo" which is incorrect. It should go, "Hai douzo".

Tighten loincloth
Japanese doesn't have articles, but English sentences sound strange without them. I'd suggest "Let's tighten our loincloths".

Quote:
Women and men step in
This sounds more natural as "Both women and men are going in"

Quote:
My towel
A little too small for me
My towel is
A little too small for me

Quote:
But front is concealed
I'd suggest "But up front is concealed", which sounds like more natural English.

Quote:
Around this one man
Bubbles are forming up
I'd suggest "I can see bubbles all around that old man" - it's closer to the original and it's more natural English. Much of the rest of this verse also doesn't quite pass my "sounds like natural English" test.

Aw, man, I made this change once already :x

Maybe it's just hearing loss I've inflicted on myself, but listening to the OST, it sounds like it could go either way. So, at this point, unless you can convince me further, it stays as is. The Iroha lyrics booklet doesn't have this song, unfortunately. (Well, since I've never been to an onsen, is there some sort of staff member that says "hai, douzo" at the entrance? That would do it ... )

Why do you say it's "hai douzo" when your translation says "let's step in"? O_o

Because it's just a translation and not an exact word-for-word meaning of the Japanese. It's probably not a super perfect translation, but I think it's close and nobody else has bothered to translate it to English.

Yeah I noticed too the lyrics book doesn't have this one listed. If you got the lyrics from just listening to this song, props to you . Though I think this song sounds pretty good, it sort of gets grating after like the third time.

But surely "hairou zo" is closer to "let's step in" than "hai douzo" is. Not disputing the accuracy or why it isn't completely literal (because I also don't believe that a good translation should be completely literal), just noting that seemed odd.
