This is a very difficult song to translate, as are all Asaki songs. His lyrics are very sophisticated and he likes to use not too often used Japanese words.
On a related note, since I saw a thread about some people talking about Asaki, I saw on a Konami (Japanese) website, it said Asaki was once in a gothic Jpop band as the bass guitarist, he's allergic to cats, and he likes to write songs in A Minor. This is why you sometimes see him depicted as a cat with the letter "A" on its forehead. No actual pictures of him though.
Red Bell (Akai Suzu)
Sunset, a shadow growing as we chase it with our eyes
We went home holding our hands
Ringing a small sound of a bell
It is ringing with the sound of a cuckoo clock
Ring ring [sound effect of bells]
Echoing tiny, tiny sounds
One morning, he is a very wealthy man
“Are you going to be okay without me?”
His shaking hands were perspiring and he fell into a labyrinth
A nasty color, a laughter that induces nausea
Ring ring [sound effect of bells]
Echoing sound of her bell
An old lady with a white robe laughs with her back turned to me
Yes that’s right, she is licking with her gigantic tongue
“Raise your right hand towards the sky, throw your left hand into the sea
Magnificently conquer the world!”
So says the evil crows
An ideal picture that I always withheld without questioning its value, And the happiness will just wither away in an instant of a raindrop
It will grow as grand as the desert, but eventually will deteriorate
They whispered into your ear
“This way demon, follow the sound of the clapping hands”
Disappears into the white clouds
“I will chop off your filthy tongue that only spits out lies!
You’ll have to wait! You’ll have to wait for him to arrive!”
I cannot see nor hear
“Keeping it simple is the best” *Laughs*
The reflection of his girl swirled around and around on the aquarium’s reflection
“How are you doing?”
A letter from his girl, and after that day never came any more
A bird that dyed green from the acid rain brought a breeze over
But she is nowhere to be found, she gives off no sign of any color nor sound
That candy colored sky, she will never be able to grow her shadows
The bell will echo on
“I’m home!”
The crows shrieking, the sound of it dissipated in the sunset
He ran! He wiped away his tears and gently opened the doors
There she was…, her only proof of existence, the sound of the ringing bells… |
