So if you mess up, the song sounds like crap? Usually the song leads to bad dancing, not the other way around. | Well it's just a game, not a real life dance competition.

In fact, when the game was first designed, that was the ENTIRE point. ONLY freestyling competitions existed in the original days of the game. Extremely difficult charts didn't even exist. That came later.
And even when people aren't "dancing", Pump is an exercise in immersing yourself in the music. IIDX and Pop'n have you "create" the music, but in dancing games you're being absorbed IN the music. Keysounding the notes would be completely missing the point. It wouldn't even be fun. The music would sound horrible because you wouldn't be able to groove to it. Keysounding should only be limited to music games that stress perfect technical accuracy.
If a keysounded dance game were to be released these days, I'd stay clear of it. It'd probably make me want to shoot myself.
EDIT: come to think of it, have you seriously not heard of DDR and ITG? This is a really weird thread. This is the first time in 10 years I've even heard the idea of keysounding a dance game even being brought up!

Like someone said before the dance floor is not an instrument, that makes sence, and I honestly didn't give it much thought before I asked, but like I said before a game is a game.
As for saying that it's a bad idea because the music will sound bad if you mess up, the same could be said about iidx, djmax, ez2dj, guitar freaks, drummania...etc, and those are all great games.

| Seriously... give up. TS clearly explained why dancing games don't have keysounds.
Or do you hear keysounds when you're dancing in a party or something?

Or do you hear keysounds when you're dancing in a party or something? | Did you read all my posts? I already agreed that the dance floor is not an instrument, meaning it doesn't make sounds, so I already answered you're question twice.
I understand now that a dance game is best without keysound, but that doesn't mean that it's the only way to make a dance game, someone mentioned before that there WAS a dance game with keysound even if it was bad.
I'm not saying that dance games MUST have keysound, all I'm saying is that a dance with keysound does not mean the end of the world...what's the worst that can happen if they make one?

Konami should make this into a game and call it Robotripping Revolution

Those games SHOULD be keysounded. These are games where you "compose" music rather than "groove" to them. The point of these games is to be as precise and accurate as possible. Hence... the keysounding. You have to play well for the music to sound good.
One other good reason why keysounding Pump would not only be strange, but it would literally ruin the game: the new versions of the game have mission modes where some missions require you to miss tons of steps or get a certain number of goods and bads or even step on triggers which alter the steps. In songs like these, the player wouldn't even have a choice: they'd be musically destroying the song to complete the mission.
Nothing of the sort would exist in IIDX/DJMax/EZ2/Guitar Freaks/Drummania/O2Jam/Guitar Hero/Pop'n/etcetcetcetc because these games are of the keysounded variety.

Do we REALLY want to repeat that abomination again?
