Default HELLO PUMP IT UP FORUM I HAVE A QUESTION

I have been playing Zero at a Dave & Buster's near campus. Although this is expensive, it is the only available arrowbash machine to which I have access. All would be well and good here, since I like Pump and all, but I have noticed that there is a minor problem with the game itself. Difficulty ratings appear to have been developed by pulling up a random number table and just going to town. I can clear a few twelves and thirteens on crazy but there are sevens and eights on hard that are at present absolute illegible madness to my eyes.

It's also worth mentioning that due to some problems with the screen's settings, difficulties are mostly impossible to see. This has led to me picking eighteens when I thought I was getting a thirteen and other such disasters.

So, basically, I'm trying to figure out how the christ I should be progressing. I can do stuff like THE RAP VOLUME SOMETHING or FOXY LADYYYYY I think was what it was called and some shit like that on crazy without too much difficulty, as well as several other songs. Unfortunately I'm terrified to experiment with stuff that is totally outside my range because it's over a dollar a game and that really blows dick if I fail before I've gotten the bonus stage! So, what songs from Zero would you recommend I look into playing to advance a little bit without accidentally breaking some bones during play? Thanks buddies!

Join the Party and Loner are two of my favorites, both should be within the K-Pop category.

God I remember whoring out the Exceed Crazy of JtP with a broom holding down that one note~

It sounds like you're at around a 11-12 level, but you could probably pull off some of the easier 13s.

Try crazies like Emergency, My Friend(both have long 16th runs, but at low BPMs), What's Going On(EASY, but fun), Don't Bother Me, Point Break, Street Showdown, etc.

Pump's difficulty scale is hard to understand even for people who've been playing the game for years, since Andamiro can't make up their own minds about how they want to rate stuff.

14s are when things get painful, like 11-12 ITG scale stuff, but it's hard to rate it on their scale since stage break isn't nearly as evil with Pump.

I would need to agree somewhat on the fact the ratings are a little weird.

I mean, i can pass Witch doctor(17) with a B.
And i struggle sometimes to get a B on Will o the Wisp, which is supposed
to be easier.

I'm not totally sure but i think the colors have something to do with it too.
normal is yellow, hard is blue, and crazy is pink. FS -green, NM - purple.

Like, on WGO, the NORMAL is a (3), and the HARD is a (2)

nya?

I prefer sitting on the center arrow through the whole song and hitting the arrows with my hands, Tatsujin soon to come.

Witch Doctor CZ is easier than WIll CZ? No way... Will CZ is a lot easier, since it's really more like an "advanced" Extravaganza CZ, while Witch Doctor has MORE twists, 16th runs, drills, etc. Will is MUCH, MUCH easier... but it's easier to get a lower grade due to the fewer steps. But really...

And someone mentioned Join the Party? That's Pop channel, and not K-Pop channel.

Anyway, there's quite a few songs that are available to the lvl 13 CZ player:

For the adventurous player with a Zero nearby...

Hatred CZ
Do It Yourself CZ
Storm CZ
Emergency CZ
Oh My! CZ
Get Over Your Fate CZ
U CZ
Go CZ
Hot CZ
Starian CZ
Turkey March CZ

Of course, getting better at PIU is like getting better at IIDX. Push! Push yourself on harder songs that will destroy you... and just keep playing until the song destroys you less and less... until that miss count finally reaches the D level. It definitely worked for me on Dignity CZ, so perseverance is your friend. Feel free to fight Blazing CZ, Mr. Firefighter CZ, or even Beat of the War 2 CZ!

$1 is actually cheap compared to what the average D&B expects... $5 usually gets me four plays if I'm lucky.

Yeah, Witch Doctor crazy a 17 my ass. The first time I played it, I beat it with no effort at all, which is extremely unusual for a song of that level (I think songs like Solitary 2 are much more difficult)

As a whole I find Pump ratings to be more of a 'range'. After you play them you'll just know what songs are harder than others. It'll take time tho.

Empire of the Sun and Let the Sunshine are both pretty easy. Valenti is also a great crazy song to start out with, fast runs with low BPM but it flows quite well.

Always do a difficult song for first stage since there's no stage break, then when you get better at it start playing it for stage-break stages. It's really the best way to push yourself.

Seconding the "difficult songs on first stage" technique. While there are some weird ratings, for the most part, they're not THAT absolute. Witch Doctor CZ is probably easier for me than Solitary 2, but that's because Solitary requires lots of stamina AND twisting to handle... Witch Doctor relies on a lot of drills but almost little to no twisting. However, for someone great at twisting but poor at drills, Witch Doctor will make them suffer more than Solitary 2, and for the people who are crappy at twisters, Witch Doctor will seem easier than Solitary 2. It all depends on your strengths and weaknesses in the game... it's really tough to make good level calls with that in mind, and while the AM model in Zero isn't perfect, it's... workable and pretty good for dodging songs you shouldn't be doing. (For instance, lvl 10 players who can pummel Valenti CZ or Oh My! CZ definitely want to dodge Run! CZ, Slam CZ, and LiADZ2 HD until later)

If it makes anyone feel better, IIDX players, even with the 12-star system, still run into the problem with different player strengths and weaknesses, so this is something that will be with us always.

You mexicans have it cheap! Haha, no wonder everyone plays pump.

The secret to D&B is to put $25+$2 supercharge on the card. You get the most chips for your money, and if you play often enough it's def worth it!

Also gets you to gold faster

That's why i play at D&Bs.

When you get a gold card, you get 20% off all the games. I think, maybe 15% i didn't calculate it. ^^U

Too bad they cancelled that personal card system they were about to implement. it would've given 50% or so percent off. Plus your name on the card.
