Default Metal Pump Pad?

Heya,

I've gotten into Pump quite a bit the last few weeks. I have been playing on a nearby NX cabinet.

I'd really like to be able to play Pump at home via PS2 or via StepMania/Pump over the summer and possibly beyond that, as where I will be is nowhere near a Pump machine. I know that there are the soft pads, but I'd really hate to get into the same sort of thing I had with DDR where the soft pad was replaced after a very short period of time.

I am looking for a metal Pump pad, and I know MyMyBox had their pad, but they are no longer selling those and all of them have been cleared from their shelves.

I have also seen an Argentina-based site, PUMPANDGROOVE (platformasdebaile.com.ar), but have heard that the whole site is remarkably unreliable, and shipping from Argentina to the US will be expensive as crap.

Does anybody know of where I could buy a metal Pump pad, or am I better off attempting to build one myself when I get bored?

Thanks!

My advise would be to build one for Stepmania as the only console release was Pump it Up Exceed... and comparing that to NX you'll tire of Exceed rather fast.

The rest of the releases after Exceed were all PSP which sucks.

But yeah the best pad out there is one that you build yourself... I wouldn't trust the crap on the market from those companies.

I would suggest MyMyBox, but as you said... they're out of stock for now. In my opinion the MyMyBox pads just take a little bit of tweaking on your own part and they're very nice pads.

Only problems I had with the MMB pad I got was the metal corners were a bit sharp xD

And no holes in the back to insert a bar. *cough* chair *cough*

Eh, my Afterburner for SM/OpenITG is sharp, too, that won't be a problem.

If I can find the MMB pad, I'd love to get one, they look like they'll be stable enough to last for a while (maybe until people actually get Pump machines somewhere near my home).

A bar probably won't even be necesary. If I find I need one at some point, I'll likely just build a solid platform, bolt the pad down on top of it, and put a bar on the platform.

I guess I'll see what's available when this really becomes an issue and my favorite 50cents/3songs NX machine is two hours away.

This Pump machine I speak of is at the Tilt in Foothills Mall in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Some of the people you run into in that mall sure suck, but it's a rather enjoyable place to play, I feel. Especially for $.50 a game.
