Practice half double charts. Knowing how to cross over between pads is probably the most important thing.

Definitely master Freestyle first. If you can ace Beethoven Virus and Winter freestyle, that's a great start.

Try What's Going On a lot, also easier NMs like Deja Vu(sort of) and stuff, which is great for mastering crossovers too.

DON'T LISTEN TO HIM

Dude, Canon D FS hard? o_o No, seriously, it's not that hard.

If you wanna get used to NM mode, try FS charts that will literally force you to run through all the dance floor:

-Turkey March.
-Winter.
-Moonlight.
-Final Audition Episode 1.
-Csikos Post.
-*MYSONG* (yeah, I'm serious).

I'd also suggest Mr. Larpus, Will'o the Wisp and Vook, but I'm afraid they're as stupid as a really hard NM chart

Here are some decently easy Nightmare charts that are probably good to start out with:

Valenti
Up Up
Oh My
Rolling Christmas

They more or less contain relatively basic crossovers and constient difficulty (although Rolling Christmas's ending might be kind of tough). With Valenti, just pay attention to the note flow since it can be kind of easy to get lost if you don't pay attention. Just work your way up!

Valenti NM = Valenti CZ spread through the entire dance floor.

When you feel ready, try the following tunes:

-Empire of the Sun.
-Come to Me.
-Perfect.

Perfect songs to practice your NM crossovers :3

Watch Out is another good one. It even has a nice staircase to practice.

I'd say go after 8s and up for hard Freestyles, since they're the ones that break out the 8th note runs more often.

It's a "half double nightmare" [as what's going on], it's a lot like the crazy, but some steps are kinda hard to hit, anyway give it a try, the worst that can happen is you gettin a.......HEY WHY DONT YOU JUST...........
