White, thin, and kinda lanky. He only started working there this summer. I stopped by during the time when the bars weren't there due to having to be repaired or something or other.

I also tried the first continent of WorldMax, and I can safely say that even with a USB, I would never clear most of this shit. Diff. 2 and 3 stages are night and day. Perplexity 2 wasn't so bad until the triples and freezes came in and kicked my ass, and that's not even the hardest challenge on that continent.

About Worldmax... it's useful to have a friend for some of those evil missions. :| I couldn't pass half of the missions finished on my USB by myself either.

What I don't understand is why Andamiro makes you jump through hoops to unlock a third of the games content. Not even Konami are this big of assholes with unlocks. No Pumbis? No Till the End of Time, Cannon X, Final Audition 2-X, J-Bong, and 2/3rds of the full versions for you.

Christ, this bullfuckery makes me want to stop playing the series altogether. I miss Exceed 2. At least it wasn't a massive cocktease. If they make a new version, I hope they fire everyone who thought that making songs exclusive to modes was a good idea.

Eh, Exceed 2 feels REALLY, REALLY old now that I play it every week for an hour. I would've quit PIU if all I had was that Exceed 2 around my area. If I loved Blazing, Get Up!, J Bong, Hello, the old Pop channel, and PMA to the death, I suppose I'd be crying, but... even without the unlocks, NXA (as well as NX2) really crush it in terms of content. In NXA, the charts are arguably better, and there's more of them... and each channel is a lot stronger musically, IMO. Btw, I spit on the Exceed 2 X-Treme Vook of the War CZ chart.

Cannon X-1 is automatically unlocked after a certain number of plays, so you'll get that soon. FA2-x is unlocked for all USB owners (in theory, though they haven't given it to me personally yet :|)... but all of those charts except the Normal are very difficult and tiring, which is why I'm not whining about it.

The concept of Worldmax is based on the notion that they WANT people to keep playing and NOT get tired of the game fast... it's a profit thing that works well for the Brazilians, Mexicans, and Koreans, the primary audience of the game, who have the player base to move the adventure forward. So therefore, they put incentive to play Worldmax with unlocks and exclusive songs to that mode. And now with Brain Shower, there are unlocks out of that mode, so we can play.

Yes, it's a little annoying, but this is an arcade machine which needs to keep a way to bring back players outside of just a songlist ala IIDX or pop'n. Arcade Station is still solid, and Special Station still has some good (and some MEAN) charts without the unlocks. Those old songs being Worldmax exclusives? Realistically how many of their old Arcade charts would you play at the machine? Would you play Maria or My Way CZ over and over again at every visit to the PIU NXA machine? The existence of Worldmax exclusives does not by default make the content in other modes bad at all.

If it's any comfort, almost all of the old songs Worldmax exclusives (and a majority of them with MUCH better charts than their arcade charts) are a short hop west from Harena. If I remember right, all of the NX2 Worldmax continents should be open, so you'd just have to beat the mission behind Pyramid (or fail it three times) to get to the continent with all the "old songs" (and NM versions of some of the awesome CZ charts from Funky Tonight, First Love, and Don't Bother Me). Yes, you can walk past a mission by failing it 3 times if it's too hard (did that many times on our USB). Also, the adventure of Worldmax is a lot more fun with a second person (or a third one).

With a USB, there's an item shop that allows you to do interesting things like turn off BGAs, purchase barrier destroyers, activate anti-alien shield, etc. to make Worldmax a lot more enjoyable.

Really, the primary thing I have annoyances with is the PIU USB distribution model, since we wouldn't have so many issues if it were EASIER to get a USB!

On that note, with more NXAs coming out, I could buy a pack of sticks and resell here for $12 (covering the cost of shipping and the stick, and no profit to me whatsoever, which is fine)... is that something people here are interested in?

Don't think anybody's mentioned it so far in this thread (I searched for it, anyway, and didn't see it in the list), but the Pro cabinet that used to be at the Brunswick Zone in Napervile, Illinois is now at the Brunswick Zone XL in Algonquin, IL.

Not certain if the list is still being updated or not, but I thought it bore mentioning in case it is.

So I decided to go to Franklin Mills tonight to hopefully fill my card with the $10 you get for signing up on their website, but of course it wasn't valid on Wednesdays. Figures! Either way, Pump was not in very good shape IMO. Screen is still pretty bad, and small, since it's one of those older Pump cabs with one Sub. Volume was super low and they wouldn't turn it up even a little when I asked one of the managers and explained that it was needed to play the game.
Pads are meh, bars are pretty damn loose. Same location, same credits, same TWO Guitar Hero cabs blaring in the background lol.

Got their Pump Zero back. It's 2 tokens (50 cents) again and the right tweeter is still blown lol. The pads seem pretty solid, though they could be more sensitive. Bars are solid and volume is okay if you play 1P. 2P side is pretty quiet, haha. 3 songs + bonus. In game room.

Don't ask how I got 6.8 million on the machine. I just assume I'm magic. If you think the volume is low now, you should have been there three week ago. I was sight-reading EVERYTHING.

I'm going to check out the Nifty Fifty's location since that's not too far from my house either. They've got to be more responsive than D&B's pads, and since I'm adapt to them your good is my incredible. Even a quiet 2P side beats out th volume on NXA when it first arrived. It's nice to know that I have another place to go to after half-of Wednesday's ends. Thanks for the heads up.

The Atlanta, GA location no longer exists (arcade closed), but I did hear of an (uncomfirmed) pump location at a Tilt arcade in Savannah, GA. More info as I find out more.

D&B at Milpitas/San Jose finally upgraded their NX1 to NXA! USB slots working, Hard Timing/Judgment, and stage break on after 1st stage.

1P is solid, 2P still drops holds though not nearly as bad as it used to. Will work on asking them to fix it.
