Two important updates for USPF 2007 Please read this if you plan on attending USPF (including if you're just coming to watch).
This topic regards: transportation and replacing entrants and entering USPF. Transportation
If you are coming, you SHOULD be planning NOW (if not planned already) for how you'll be getting around. Obviously you won't be walking from the hotel to the tournament site or wherever unless you like hiking balls-@$$ long distances.
How it works: If you're coming in from O'Hare, if you're going to the hotel in Schaumburg (the one Adolfo mentioned), it's quite a hike. You'll have a few options.
RTA : RTA is the public transportation network in Chicago, it includes CTA ("The El" trains, general train/subway, and bus service, all within the city of Chicago), Pace Bus (buses that run much less frequently and serves only the suburbs of Chicago), and Metra (which you shouldn't need).
Taxi : Taxis are EXPENSIVE in Chicago, but if you have a lot of luggage, you may want to consider it.
Getting someone to drive you: We're VERY limited on rides, so PLEASE DO NOT rely on a car unless you really need one. Rides are on first-come-first-served basis. I will be helping bus people back and forth along with other people. HOWEVER, I know for myself, I can only make very limited trips unless someone wants to foot me gas monies, so make sure you ONLY need to make as few trips as possible.
O'Hare airport to Schaumburg hotel:
RTA - Take a blue line train to Rosemont (one stop from O'Hare), $2. Then take the 606 Pace Bus to the hotel (I think it's a 50 cent transfer, unless fares changed).
Taxi - I believe it's a $24 flat rate from O'hare to the hotel. I believe you'll need to use a particular fleet service, so stay tuned in this topic.
Hitch a ride.
Midway airport to the hotel:
RTA - Take the Orange Line to downtown, get off at CLARK & LAKE. Transfer to the BLUE LINE towards O'Hare, and get off at Rosemont. From there, you can take the 606 Pace Bus to the hotel.
Taxi - I don't know the rate, but expect to pay more.
Car - This will be a bit hard since Midway is PISS far from the hotel and Dave & Buster's. IF YOU PLAN ON COMING IN FROM O'HARE, PLEASE POST ASAP. If you do not post up, please do not expect to get a ride.
Hotel to downtown:
Shuttle bus: There will be a free (Yes! F R E E !) bus provided. Please make sure you do not miss the shuttle, as it will leave promptly at the assigned time; if you plan on using this service, please be responsible and make sure you know when it leaves and be there EARLY.
RTA - You'll need to take a Pace 606 to the Rosemont CTA stop. From there, you'll need to take a train from there to downtown and transfer. More details soon.
I'm setting a deadline of Thursday September 27 at 10PM CST for those that need rides. If no one steps forward, we will assume no one needs rides. This is first-come first-served AND as-need basis. If you have, like, NO luggage and have plenty of cash to spare, please be courteous for those that actually need this service.
Once the deadline is set, we will assume only those that posted will need rides. NO exceptions. So make sure you spread the word.
Finally, if you're late to events because you failed to plan ahead, events will not be postponed because you were lazy. Don't come to Chicago assuming you'll be told what to do. We have plenty of resources available on the web and get you ready to go by the time you come here. If you miss the last bus back to the hotel (public transportation or otherwise), you better have a backup plan. Replacing entrants
Are you pissed that you couldn't enter USPF because you didn't enter the club tourney in time, you didn't know about it, or you're not in a club? Here's your chance!
As you have all heard, some people that are supposed to enter the tourney are not able to come. So, this is what will happen:
If you want a spot at USPF, you are still encouraged to join a club system. Those that are NOT in a club system will have to wait last in line.
This is a purely first-come first-served basis.
When you enter your name (real and nickname), please also submit the club you are a part of where applicable, contact info and division where there are missing entrants (in other words, there MUST be a missing slot in a particular division that you would like to replace a player). This will only get your name in a queue line and does not mean you will be guaranteed a spot at USPF. This means that if a person who originally couldn't make it is suddenly able to go, they will regain their spot and whoever is last in the queue gets bumped.
There are only a limited amount of slots open, so please e-mail me at BakaOrochi at bemanistyle dot com if you want in (DO NOT post here).
Details may change without notice, but I will edit this message if it does. Please be sure to stay updated on this page.
Entries will be accepted until Wednesday 11:59PM, September 26.
After that, no more entries will be accepted.
So if you didn't get a chance to enter, this is the only possible way you can enter, and it's best thing that can be done in this circumstance.
Thanks! See you all Friday!
