That is VERY true, Cream Sauces (White Sauces) are made with cream, which has a LOT of fat in it. You should avoid them and stick with red sauces since those traditionally have no cream in it. Plus, tomatoes are better anyway :3

Also, Pastas and grains have A LOT of calories. However, the energy in carbohydrates are burned off slower than those in Protein, so you have more energy throughout the day (Atleast, that's what I hear). Your diet should be carb-based, since everyone knows Atkins and other low-carb diets fuck you over in the end :/

* I don't think you can take diet advice from someone who can't make one stick.
* Exercise does boost your metabolism, but it's much easier to trim out 500 calories (which adds up to a pound a week) than to exercise off 500 more calories a day (likely an hour and a half of additional exercise per day, every day).
* Since I don't think anyone read the link: count your calories, and drop them by 700. Keep them there. Don't cheat. For pure weight loss, it doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you keep your calorie count maintained. You will lose weight, unless you were MASSIVELY overeating to start, in which case you'll at least stay the same. Everyone wants to find a way around this by drinking five gallons of grapefruit juice or cutting out carbs or something, but the simple truth that you can't cheat in the long run is you have to cut back calorie intake (and go a bit hungry) to lose weight.
* Track your weight. But don't take the numbers for any one day by themselves, because you can fluctuate up to 9 pounds in water alone. The book I linked to outlines a smoothing algorithm for getting an accurate approximation of real weight based on many measurements. You can minimize fluctuation by weighing yourself in the morning after emptying yourself but before anything else. You can also use this: Physics Diet
* I'm not believing a link hoping to sell a book through fearmongering. Peer-reviewed research or GTFO.

To put some evidence behind my words:

haha same here, my friends find it annoying when we eat out because since im always the first to finish my meal i see their food, and i eat it.

oh its all in the attitude - if you jsut want to lose weight to look good or whatever you have less chance than if you aim to be healthy (hard to explain but if you feel bad about yourself from teh start it might be hard to change) also eat more fresh fruit and vegetables, canned stuff ain't good, organic or GM doesn't really matter.

On note of the splenda/sugar substitute debates, here's the basic point: if you're consuming so much sugar that it's going to have such an adverse effect on your health and weight, what substitute you use in place isn't the problem here. Cut sugar OUT before you work on replacing unhealthy amounts of it with possibly unhealthy alternatives. Go for natural sweet flavors. Try some damn fruit, or sweet peppers! I completely dislike eating microwave dinners and fast food, but it's unfortunately not an option to avoid it all of the time. When I can control my meals, I eat a lot of healthier cereals, fresh fruit (if canned, I get the low shelf life variety in its own juice, not syrup) and lots of yogurt.

Active cultures are good for your digestive system. If you're making a drastic dietary change, you might overlook how it can affect your system. Some proper yogurt can do wonders to help your stomach adjust to eating real food or different portions.

I don't diet (contrary, I had to change mine to gain weight, I don't metabolize protein well so I was underweight a bit) but I like eating healthy when possible. Tastes better, in my opinion.

Um.. BY losing weight diet. No.

Now, for healthier choices, I've given up [gross tasting] kids cereal and taken up Special K Fruit n' Yogurt. My first expectations were like "lol, this will taste like crap". However, after the first bite, i wa slike "WOW!!!". Now it is my favorite cereal, it tastes so awesomely (lol, firefox thinks its a word).

Ive also been drinking Green Tea instead of Soda. Now my friend EJ gets hgih off of green tea. I have no clue how, or why.

EDIT: At lunch, some kid was going crazy after one second I had a full bottle of green tea, and the next it was totally empty. I am serious, it was literally 1 second I drank all of my GT GT.

I've been drinking 8 bottles of water, and some more each day. I've been trying to eat less, but I'm always eating more than what I want. Haha, it sucks.

i went from 206-177lbs using this diet:

- green tea throughout the day
- 1 gallon of water a day
- 5 small meals of either chicken, fish or lean meat grilled/baked
- cut out soda, high sodium & high sugar snacks/foods & white breads completely
- peanut butter & cottage cheese (either seperate or together) before bedtime

the deal with the green tea & water was to cleanse, make myself go to the bathroom as often as possible so my body can retain less water.

5 small meals to keep my metabolism level and prevent my blood sugar levels from spiking. never felt full, never felt hungry. just satisfied, plus water to prevent cravings. if i felt full, it was from water.

no high sugar/salty foods since most of that stuff turns into fat. the absence of chips, candy, soda, dessert, or fast food wasn't that bothersome to me.

peanut butter/cottage cheese has anti-catabolic effects which aided my workouts so my body doesn't lose any muscle during sleep.

the gym is 5 minutes from my work. i work out 5 times a week and with the diet above, i lost 29 pounds in 3-1/2 weeks and increased my bench press about 50 pounds.

the great thing to me is that my diet and workout has become a habit and i naturally do not crave for anything that i used to eat.
