Recommendations anyone? I'm open to try just about anything.

You can't go wrong with the all around awesome California Roll. If they have those at sushi bars...
Dunno, cause I've never been to sushi bar.

Really some of the best sushi is salmon and tuna nigiri. If you prefer rolls, some sort of shrimp tempura or crunch roll is equally awesome. Basically with sushi you should just go in and order whatever you think looks good. 99% of the time it tastes just as good.

None of my post I make in the middle of the night make sense.

I also recommend people go to the sushi bars in Tsukiji, Japan (home to the world's largest fish market). There are a couple near the auctions that have The. Best. Sushi you'll ever have. Best $50 you'll ever spend (that price is for the bigger sets. The set I bought was $20).

No fish or other meat, just rice with chopped vegetables in a fried tofu wrapper

1: It is traditional to eat sushi with your hands, not chopsticks, or whatever else.
2: It is also traditonal to eat a piece of sushi in one bite. Put it down all at once.
3: Sushi refers to the rice not whatever else most people think it is. Sushi is not raw fish, it's sushi rice. RICE!

Also, if you don't like the raw stuff, you can try an ungai (eel) nigiri. It's really flavorful and goes great with the rice.

Firstly, I've never seen anyone in America eat with thier hands and secondly, with Americanized sushi most of the larger rolls are too big to eat in one bite. I usually eat them in two.

I know all that because I love to watch the Food Network. I'm pretty knowledgable on food stuffs. Sushi is one of my weak points, but I know that in Japan what I said is tradition. I could really care less how you eat it. After all normac, like you said this is America... Well, for some people at least. I'm just kinda being a traditionalist, and I want people to know how it's supossed to be. I don't care if they follow it.
Just don't go eating sushi with a fork, and knife. That's just plain wrong!

It's got like 800 different kinds of sushi, and every one I tried was great. That was the best sushi restaurant I've ever visited. Sushi is good if there's a variety. The same type can get boring.
btw raw fish = sashimi if anyone still thinks sushi is raw fish.

I'm more interested in the nigiri type. It's supposed to be the king of sushi.
