Default things to put in sushi

I have a little kit with sushi rice and wraps in it (making the rice is a pain in the ass and the vinegar smells bad so I halfass it). I was going to have it for lunch until I realized that I don't have anything to put in my sushi.

I usually put carrots or shit like that in, but I'm curious as to what else works well. We're all weeaboos here, so I have to assume you guys know about this stuff. Make suggestions please.

Lolz is this becoming a joke thread?

@on a more serious note

Personally, I'd suggest the following as a requirement:
-crabsticks (you always need crab/kani period)
-rice (obviously; if you can go for authentic japanese variety of rice, then go for it)
-Seaweed (seriously, do not skimp/remove this out)

Optional but recommended:
-Fruits (mango would be the best IMHO)
-Mayonnaise
-Tamago (or those little egg thingies)
-Shrimp or prawns

Well there are apparently a lot more things that can be suggested or recommended but that's all I can think of at the moment. Aside from the ones mentioned above, try and test for other items that may blend well with the sushi that you plan to make.

Hope that helps

Tamago and Red Snapper are my favorite types, but in making your own, here are my suggestions! (from when I tried making my own... xD; )

1) Chicken- I used like.. the microwavable chicken patties and I cut them up. So it's definatly not raw chicken. Top it off with some teriyaki, soy, or hot sauce and it's like, amazing.

2) Cooked Talapia - Easily found pre-cooked in the frozen fish Aisle.

3) Sweetened Egg - Scambled eggs, add sugar. It's good.

Occasionally, I even try to make desert Onigiri (Using..um.. shoot. I forgot what I used instead of nori...)
Filled with like, chocolate, or pudding, and instead of using salt to keep it together, I used sugar.

Okay, I'll let you know if I come up with anything else.

There are many shitty-westurn-style varities to make sushi, so here are some TRADITIONAL japanese oens:

- Add salmon (sliced into a .5 inch stick format), and you have salmon sushi.

- Add oshinko (japanese-style pickles, they are yellow) and you have Oshinko-sushi.

- Add some sliced cuecumber (make sure its sliced into long sticks, roughly the length of the seaweed (if faced from up to down)), then you have "kappa-sushi".

I think making the cucumber sushi would be more easier at first, then work your way up to some of the meats, but definitely stick with fish, do not add meat, unless if its eel. (unagi-sushi).

Also, you can youtube the username "cookingwithdog", there is a sushi recepie that the lady makes on one of the videos.

I hope this helps.
