I'm assuming that if DJ Hero and Scratch were meant to compete with each other, the makers of Scratch would implement SOME sort of mixing/improvisation feature. Something to differentiate it even a little from Beatmania.
2) I wouldn't call either one a ripoff, but I can see how that would be justified in the mind of a fanboy. It doesn't matter what you want to call it, but it strikes me that one of the developers caught wind of the other developers' game, and generated "ideas" from there. Like GuitarFreaks to Guitar Hero to Rock Band, or DDR to Pump. I doubt the ideas for the predecessors came out individually, totally originally. It's not really anything to bitch about.
