Default Disable Ratings

I was wondering if we can disable ratings for simfiles, or block a username from rating your simfiles. Instead of people complaining that someone is intentionally rating all your simfiles 1's, you can block that person from rating your simfiles. Or, instead of stressing about ratings, you can completely disable ratings, like on Youtube.

I'm thinking the completely disabling ratings is better than blocking someone from rating, but that's just my opinion.

We have the ability to stop certain people from rating simfiles.

We, as in us simfile authors or we, as in administrators?

Can you find the disable option?

If not, then it's probably just admins.

I don't think so, which is why I am suggesting this.

The above thought process is the gateway to a constant uncontrollable flood of complete trash simfiles and no warnings to future users as it concerns to complete waste of time downloads.

Comments are reportable, and therefore should be required before rating. That makes things a lot easier. Then someone can't just mindlessly rate 1s on a hate tangeant just because, they'll have to give a reason, and that reason would have to be at least SOMEWHAT thought out.

Now that I've gone and checked some of Omega8bit's sims and ratings I've gotta say... why're YOU bitching? The rates have been quite nice to you. Seriously if you can't handle a couple of bad rates, don't submit.

Well I recently had one of my smfiles rated a 10, then the next person rated it a 1.

The user never posted, or has posted since then, and the last time they were online was to rate my smfile a 1. =\

If that's just a coincidence, okay, but if it's not too much trouble could someone get rid of that rating?

Agreed, obvious shafts such as that one should always be removed. I had the same type of thing on my "The Hard Way" sim... 5 ratings = 10,10,10,9,1... neodude(insertnumbershere) apparently had NO OTHER activity on this site other than rate bombing my sim. Oh well, it was removed and put back on the site since then, no harm done now... but the annoying part is that it happens to other people too.

If you have a file that is rated 10,10,10,9,1... the 1 shouldn't hurt your rating at all. We only average the middle 80% or so of the scores. So anything that is scored high or low on a file won't affect the rating.

But if enough people happen to be like "*shrug* I guess I feel like being an ass today" and it happens multiple times, it'll affect the actual rating, and thus small problems become big problems. You (and by "You" I don't mean specifically you, Keith) shouldn't let the small stuff slide just because it USUALLY doesn't affect much.

I know a lot of my files have been ratd 1 without a reason And it does affect if there are only 5 votes for example.

It's pretty easy to disable ratings for your files, all you have to do is submit them to the database

I kid, I kid.
