As you can see there are 5 ratings of 10 there (not including the 7.0s), one 9 and one 8, and a 5. Now I would expect this to be around 8, but it was at 5.?. I got me friends to both rate it 10 and bump it up a little, that's why they are there, and now it's at 8.3. Anyway the people I have blanked out, as you can see, have rated below 5, and have not left any feedback whatsoever. I don't really care about the 4 as much, but the 1s and 2 are just annoying. The way that 2 ratings of 1, a 2, a 4 and a 5 bring the file down so much from 10s is just obsurd.

I was wondering if I could have a rating disabled too? Some noob left me a 1 for my Black Sheep - Ultimate Version without giving a reason. Any other rating I had gotten for that file had been a 10.

Yeah, I got a rating of 1 on Smooth Criminal from someone who has done nothing other than join two days ago. *shrug* possibly joined only to drop a bad rating?

It seems that's where about 90% of those rating come from, noobs. Seriously, it's just rude, and imature.

Also, how could they join to leave a bad rating? You have to join to download. Unless they picked it up somewhere, and... Bah, who knows. That would be extremely retarded though.

Sorry I missed this post. Here are you current ratings for this file:

10
10
10
10
10
10
10
9
8
5
4
2
1
1

Basically the file has 14 ratings all together. If you take the top and bottom 20-25% of ratings off you are left with. (take 3 numbers off the top and bottom.)

10
10
10
10
9
8
5
4

Add those up and divide by 8 to get their average and you get 8.25, or 8.3.

As opposed to do regular averaging, you would add up all the numbers and get 100. Divide by 14 and you get 7.1. I think you would rather go with the current rating system

But this doesn't mean that the complete shit ratings shouldn't be removed.

Ok but what about people that rate it 10 just to boost the rating?

That's true too, and yet doesn't negate that crapass ones shouldn't stay there either. Bias to judge a song high is going to be FAR less common than bias (or just jackass-ery) to judge a song low. So even if a couple of friend's 10s were to stay, it wouldn't cover up a bad simfile for long. But if a good simfile gets a decent amount of just completely bullshit feedback, which is so much more likely than fraudulent high numbers, then it'll cover up a good one.

Yeah; on some of my simfiles there would be a lot of 8's, 9's, and 10's, and then there would be a 1, or 2, and I'd be like "what...." because I honestly think none of my simfiles deserve a 1 or a 2.

A 1 or a 2 in my opinion is like random steps, off BPM, 30-second Paint BG... etc

I was meaning to have the option to let users block/drop ratings of other users. I'm sure Admins have more important things to do than worry about this, so the users themselves should have the power over this.

But I can see where it goes wrong; users could intentionally block/drop 1-9 ratings and make it look like it's a 10.

I was thinking that a simfile should have at least 5 ratings and have an average of a 7 or higher, without the bad file, to be "qualified" as a simfile that could have ratings dropped. So if a simfile had a ratings of 9-10-8-9-8-1, then it would be considered a "decent" file because without the 1 rating, because the average rating is 8.8, which is "above average".

Blar. I don't know if that's possible or not. But it's just a thought.
