A couple weeks ago, I attempted to get feedback on my idea in the thread I made
here. Before coming to the feature request forum, I wanted to see if people shared similar concerns to warrant attention to this idea. The problem was that I put it in a forum that had very little traffic (other bemani media discussion), which ironically relates to the issue I wanted to address. Thus, I am prematurely presenting this idea now.
To summarize, I first made 2 important observations. First, I made a poll
here about two months ago asking what kind of music gamer people are. To my surprise, it appeared that "music appreciators" took up quite a bit of the votes. The other observation was that I found fan threads geared toward particular artists to be quite popular (SLAKE, BeForU, TERRA etc.).
The problem I'd like to mention is that right now, the most appropriate place to put these fan threads is in the Media Discussion section, which has little to no traffic most of the time. It also doesn't help that it's a sub-forum, which people may more likely miss. As of now, the SLAKE thread is still quite active since it's still in the IIDX forum. As for BeForU and TERRA, they used to be in the DDR forum, and the traffic got horribly reduced for both of them ever since they got moved.
My idea is that there can be a separate sub-forum for Fan Threads. First, it's not as obscure sounding as Media Discussion, so it may catch more eyes. It may also open the door to the creation of more fan threads, which will be nice since we all probably know a couple dozen artists who deserve one. Since there are supposedly so many “music appreciators,” I’m hoping that this would end up quite successfully.
Any comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
