Hmmm... let's see, why don't I start 20 threads then delete them, wow!
Obviously the mods would track this, but still... Locking = maybe. Deleting = NO!

Obviously the mods would track this, but still... Locking = maybe. Deleting = NO! | When you "delete" a post on vBulletin, the post isn't technically "deleted", it just doesn't show up anymore. Moderators and administrators can still see the original post, however. So, even if it were possible to delete your own thread, we'd still be able to see what you did.

It's a great way for someone to be able to say "okay, I'm going to get the last word and the discussion is over now regardless if anybody else wants to add something." It puts someone in complete control of an argument/discussion and it can make things really unfair in that respect.
I vote no.

A tag you can turn on which only mods/admins can see, asking for a lock if something goes awry? Sort of like a more controlled version of the proposal.

Anyway, I agree with what's been said here about the abuse issue. I did like Fletcher's idea when I first read it, but I then realized that the same thing could be done if the OP just sends a PM to a moderator/administrator.
