I'm really pleased with these changes, I can't wait to see what else happens. | What else is happening? Well, I've noticed that I'm actually starting to get rated by my downloaders, which is funny, because I'm sure that none of the other large changes (such as limitting downloads when your %s are bad) have been made. Funny ain't it?
Yeah, seriously, I can't wait until the download logs are made, and I have high hopes for a personal log showing who downloaded your stuff as well. This is going better than I expected!

People comment whoring, dropping comments on songs they've never even seen, etc. which would lead to more need to 'Report this Comment'. The mods would LOVE that.
Also, if you never comment/rating when you download, then you are a tic on the metaphoric ass of all that is BemaniStyle and you must be dealt with. I definitely like this idea of making it so that once your rating % has dropped below whatever amount then you can no longer download and must give feedback on SOMETHING.
Losing interest? Doesn't downloading for hours and getting nothing worthwhile do that? I remember the old days, when this site hosted Daikenkai (Long Version) among other sims that I loved, and I would come here and download for HOURS before even bothering to play... then I would end up deleting six or seven of the thirty or forty that I downloaded. Now it's the exact opposite if not worse. If you download thirty or forty here now, you'll be lucky to find ONE keeper in the bunch, I miss the days where good sims could be found. That's what I want this to lead towards...
...wouldn't you eventually like to see those with legendary sim creating talents get noticed? Wouldn't you like to see those who deserve credit getting that for their work? Wouldn't you like to see some of these really bad sims either disappear or actually have a bad rating that lets you know that it isn't worth downloading before you go and waste time on it? However, with no feedback we have a huge city with no roadmap, no street signs, no labels, nothing... we are completely lost in the city of simfiles that is BemaniStyle and no one is helping to put this map together. So the reason that this would be such a huge improvement is because of just that, wouldn't you be encouraged to download and comment/rate more often if you actually had a decent chance of running into more sims that were actually good?

I'm not telling you mine, but man with the crapload of files I've rated/commented it should be higher. The thing is, most crappy sims I don't bother to look up again because they're crap, and it's just a waste of time to bother. That's where the most recently downloaded sims will come in Quote:

I rate EVERYTHING that I download and it went down, *shrug*, Keith should be notified of this.
Also, rating the crap ones is the MOST worthwhile ratings of all, because then you are warning future players to stay away and not waste their time bothering with crap. This is why people need to start leaving feedback in the first place. Quote:

The only time I'll ever bother downloading from FFR is if someone is like "OMG HOLY GAWDZ THIS SIM IS AWESOME *LINK* DOWNLOAD IT!" And probably not even then.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Is there not a percentile limit for this yet? I notice people at 7-11% that appear to still have ability to download. Seems as if that would make the rest of this totally useless.

Seems as if that would make the rest of this totally useless. | I'd just like to note that since the simfiles are going to be moved offsite in the future, implementing further code to keep track of how users download and rate simfiles in the current system is not the administrators' top priority.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | LOL. Nice exchange. Seriously, I don't think I'm "important" (to this site), but I do contribute, and it would be nice to know which of my contributions are going to stick around and which are going to disappear. Zane's offhand comment about "offsite" makes it sounds like the current simfile system will be completely blown up some time in the future. Is that true?

horatio: No, you are not correct. And too much information has already been given out in this thread regarding the future of the site. All I will say is that the simfile database is not doomed to being "blown up" or anything in the near future.
