Simfile Comments

Ok, I know thats already a feature but hear me out. I can understand people not wanting to really comment and just rate simfiles and if it's good, I think that should be enough (even though I personally would prefer a comment regardless).

However, I think if anyone rates something a 3 or below they should have to leave a comment. Maybe even a 4. I'm just saying, it's not helping anyone get any better when someone does that.

Seconding this. The ratings should be stricter for those below 5. It would be better to state a reason why the person rated the simfile below 5 so that the simfile artist could get better. I would really like to know why people rate some of my simfiles a 3, and thus leaving no comment.

This concept has been brought up MANY times in the past several years and I've encouraged it myself because of dumbass reggers that do nothing but reg just to tear down a simfile with low ratings (mostly 1s) and no comment. This is a constant problem with the rating systems that have never been really addressed.

I think ratings between 1-5 should have this placed on them, leaving 6-10's upper half alone, and at the same time it needs to have a specific length to it as well as to avoid 'song sucks lol' for the comment length. If you want to put something like this on a grade basis, 5 and lower would probably be considered a 'needs work' or 'mass failing' file...so there needs to be a specific reason for rating as such. A sentence length or two would probably be long enough...but if you're rating something that low and you're wanting to fall under the constructive criticism area...you know THAT BOX YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO CHECK...you might want to consider adjusting for that as well because I guarantee you that this will be overlooked if it isn't brought up initially when making this move on comments for low-rated simfiles.

I understand everything but this little chunk. Can you explain this a little better for me?

Taking the risk of sounding stupid here but, What if you rate something below 6 you get a message telling you to explain why it's such a low rating within the comment box before the rating can be taken seriously?

Honestly...I'm at a loss here. I suppose no matter what someone is going to rate a low as they can without having to really explain anything. So if this were to get passed, they're be a lot of 5's with no explanation.

If you were to rate 1-5, instead of coming up with the 'Thank you for voting.' message, it'd instead ask for a comment first BEFORE voting. There's probably an easy way to check for that in the database. Minimum character length would be something like...what...30 for a decent sentence? 50 if you wanted two?

Basically, what I'd be after, and coupled with the fact that you have to click the checkbox to make sure it's constructive criticism, is any attempt to just copy-and-paste garbage just to get by it would be an easy way to be a target for mods and admins since you could just as easily report it.
