can't find custom song option

The manager and I tried to find the custom song option under options, but it is not found there. It is an r23 that has been hacked twice. How can I fix this but still keep the hacked songs and it as an r23.

does the machine have a hacked theme?

well, anyway, just go into the StepMania.ini (in /mnt/hda3 under slax or /stats under ssh), search for SongEdits=0, change the 0 to a 1, save, and you should be good to go.

So changing song edits to 1 will let me play custom songs on my usb? Also will all the songs hacked into it still be there?

Depending on the theme, the "Song Edits" configuration will not show. However, the stock theme should have "Song Edits" built-in with the r21 and r23 patches.

I can't imagine it would work. I remember that there were revisions prior to r21 that allowed song edits, but not custom songs. Although, maybe they changed it, I'm not sure...

As people have said, make sure that you're using the default r23 theme. It MUST have the "Custom Songs" option.

Some themes, like the famous H4X, don't have it.

I don't know if there is an x, but after H4 there is another long word there. It is an r23 and would like to know if turning the song edits to 1 will turn custom songs on because song edits are 0.

Yes, changing SongEdits=0 to SongEdits=1 in the StepMania.ini WILL work. This is exactly the same thing as switching to the default theme, going into the operator's menu, changing Custom Songs to "On", and then switching back into the custom theme. Except this way, it takes opening a text file and changing one character, rather than having to boot into slax multiple times to change the theme to get to a certain option.

The ITG2 devs worded it poorly, but song edits has always referred to custom songs. If you were to go to the ITG website when it existed, r21 would show that it added support for song edits when talking about what changed. By now, the ITG site is down since, you know, it's a dead game, so you can't see this for yourself. There has never been an operator's menu option in ITG at all about whether edits made specifically for songs already on the machine are allowed or not.

Since change song edits to 1 should work where on a hacked machine will I find it and once fixed where would I find the custom song option?
