Really dumb question:

Was ITG2 for PS2 ever released? I could have sworn it got sucked into the void during the climactic battle between Konami and Roxor, but every once in a while someone will reference "ITG2 for PS2" as though it's an actual game that is available.

ITG2 was PS2 was never officially released, no. ITG was, but not 2.

Note that an old beta of ITG2PS2 was leaked and is floating around if you know where to look. I can't help you with that.

go to stepmania

then go to itg2pc

it should be there. you might want to go and find a pad to hook up to your computer or make your ps2 read iso files from the pc

I have a question, what do people mean when they say stuff like 16th step Jump, or 8th step jump ...and 8th step jackhammer?

step jumps are patterns that are single notes followed by jump notes. something like a pattern in a chart that goes left, left-down, left, left-down, left, left-down for more than one measure.

jack hammers are patterns where one arrow is pressed repetitively, almost like jackhammering on the arrow.

it is the fraction of a beat that the note is placed on. example being that red notes are 1/4 notes, blue are 1/8th, green is 1/16th, and so on.

You can, as long as the music file in the song's folder is in .OGG format. It also must have a .SM file, not a .DWI or other simulator file.

If the machine you play on is an R21 (it has to be at least R21 for custom songs to be playable, and also must have custom songs enabled in the operators menu) machine, you can "patch" the file if it is over 120 seconds, enabling you to play long versions. If it is R23, then you can only play songs that are 2 minutes or less in length.

Go check out the tutorials on StepMania: Free dance game and songs - play with dance pads - play DWI and SM songs - not affiliated with Dance Dance Revolution for more detailed explanations on patching your simfiles, or converting them to .OGG format.
