Anyone think they may actually skip the consoles altogether and release ITG2 straight to PC? If they had that much trouble with loading times on PS2, maybe they decided it'd be easier (and more profitable) to stay in the realm they're more familiar with, the PC.

You mentioned it would be silly to put out a sequel on a console without having part 1 but what is sillier is releasing a sequel to a game that didn't sell very well; from a business standpoint. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE (tons of less-than-three kinda love) to have an ITG2 CS on my PS2 but the odds seem so slim. With ITG selling pretty horribly and with RedOctane getting snatched up by Activision odds seem slim. RO even stopped printing copies of ITG. I guess where I am going with this is, has anyone heard any RECENT news about the ITG2 CS coming out?

* Note that there are a few members of the ITG team who browse these boards. Not a one has popped into this topic yet and went "Hey, guys, so sorry but we're canning ITG2 Home."
* Weak freshman sales do not always guarantee no sophomore effort.
* The team already has experience coding on the PS2, so if a sequel is made, most likely it will be on the system they've worked with.
* Activision buying RedOctane isn't so much a curse as it is an infusion of new capital.
As for 'recent' news, the company's putting all its marketing into ITG3 right now. Expect more to follow shortly after that's released.

Port over the theme and voila! You have ITG2 CS. Look at the modified "backup" copies of itg ps2 floating around. It's obviously already been done. *I know its that simple, but you get the idea*
I guess the theme takes awhile, but its not as if the actual work of the game isn't already done. Songs, stepcharts etc.... Maybe there's a lot of red tape you have to go through or something?

It takes a while while to go from finishing the programming to the shipping stage. Got to publish it to disc, get all the packaging done, promote it and distribute it, plus dozens of smaller steps. If they don't make the official announcement until the program "goes gold" (is finished and ready to publish) then the wait until the announcement is longer, but the announcement-to-release lag is shorter.
Perhaps Roxor is concentrating on one thing at a time. ITG PC/Mac, ITG for the arcade, and ITG home are what we know about. Maybe when the other two are completely out the door they'll focus on ITG2CS.
Also, they might be waiting to release it later so it doesn't compete head-to-head with DDR Supernova. I can't see that making the consumer think "Hmm, should I buy ITG or DDR?" would benefit Roxor. If this is a factor, then this summer would have been the ideal time to release ITG2CS, as that was a arrow-stomper drought - people had had months to get tired of the latest releases, which were all over half a year old. But perhaps Roxor was concentrating on ITG3 for the arcade and ITG for the PC & Mac, and thus couldn't get ITG2CS fnished that early.
I do hope that they won't wait until the upcoming batch of DDR games get old to release ITG2CS. A release around the Christmas season would make all sorts of business sense.

Slackbot, the ITG2 PS2 isn't close to being done then the shipping stage like you said will take awhile.
