ITG PS2 theme replacement?

As we all have learned, In The Groove for PS2 is fairly easy to hack in the sense of loading and unloading songs... well, I decided, what the hell, I'll unload the entire disk, since it does run off the same engine as Stepmania, and whaddayaknow! there's the theme files... so, I know personally, the ITG theme annoys me sometimes, is there a way to change the theme of ITG?

It is time consuming, but more than possible to change/modify the theme IIRC.

well, would it run off the same concept of the songs? just replace the files, and pack it? that would seem like the logical thing to do.

should I go with the same concepts as the songs? images = .png
sounds = .ogg?
should I pack things in smaller packs? (with the theory organized is faster?)
would anyone be willing to help?

People have tried making themes for ITG PS2.... Even Kalek... But repacking them.... My God it is the most horrible thing to attempt. Don't even waste your time. Replacing simple images is a pain in the ass.

lol, I just tried my first attempt... I just re-packaged everything, like the songs... "default_songs" "default_themes" "default_cache"....... so on and so forth... it loaded, and when hit the "now loading" screen, it didn't seem to want to move XD

It is Very Possible... But it Is Time consuming. and hard Im having a friend help me on it.. I get back to you once i figure it out

My original thought was to check all the "S*******.pck" files and the ones with the theme files, alter them... has this been tested to be a fail?

yeah dude, it's been tried a lot

good luck but to be honest i doubt you will get any farther than anyone else has gotten

it would require resizing almost every image in the theme a certain way and renaming it another certain way

if you are going to release it for others to use, you'd have to repack it a certain way that is a bitch and would take like six hours to do it manually and its fucking easy to screw up

and there are tons of differences between ITG PS2 and StepMania 3.9, so have fun porting the theme if you aren't using stepmania's default from CVS build 04/20/2005
